Cheers,

Hi Graham the entry shows a number of photoes of the Stolen Delwyn Mallett's 1952 Porsche 356 coupe with the following caption :
This unique car was stolen form his home in Farnham,, Surrey, England, on the night of Monday 20th February. It is chassis number 11176 – a Reutter-bodied 1952 coupe with many unique features.

I'm not sure if you need a facebook login to see the pictures...

Terrible shame if it's never seen again.

If you have a desirable car, please fit a premium Tracker device.

Good news - taken from DDK: -

"How about this! Delwyn has just called – the Police have found the car!!!! It was reported by a 'member of the public' as sitting in the corner of a quiet car park on an estate a few miles away, covered over. The cover had blown off it, so the person called the Police to say that there was this car just sitting there. We think whoever stole it, tucked away to keep watch to see if there was a tracker fitted... No more details yet – Del can't get the car back until the SOCO has done his stuff, but he wants to thank everyone for their concern, help and words of consolation."

He's very, very lucky.

Whilst, the immediate thought is, if there's not a tracker fitted - there ought to be now, I'm not too sure such devices are compatible with race car wiring. A battery isolator needs to do just that.

I'm glad he gets it back, but I doubt very much if the SOCO will find anything; the whole event says a professional stole it, and knew what it was.

The other point, I've heard of professional car thieves who thwarted on the first attempt, wait a while and have another go mad He could be advised when he gets it back to pay to store it at a secure compound for a while.

Tracker make a version with its own power supply, thus negating such issues.

What a stroke of good fortune. He was lucky that someone took an interest.

Had a motorcycle stolen once. After two weeks a neighbour, tourist coach driver, took a wrong turn in a beach side suburb and saw it parked in the street about 20 km from where it had been stolen. Distance from the bike to the police station 100 metres!

They had opened the toolbox and used my tools to remove the ignition switch and hot wire the bike. Tools and switch were returned to the toolbox. The battery was flat because it was still wired up and the only permanent damage was that all the bulbs were burnt out, don't know why.

A guy I used to work with in Wimbledon in the 80's had his Granada nicked. A couple of days later he got a call saying that the car had been spotted by a patrol in such&such St. By the time we got down there it had gone again. It was finally found about a month later in a lockup in Mitcham. The V6 & the interior had been stripped out & taken, but the main problem was that as the lockup was very narrow they'd cut the roof off to remove it.
