Hi,

Today, I noticed some water missing in the expansion tank. After filling up, a little spin and the inspection afterwards I found some cooling liquid spread all over the upper left corner of the radiator, the front of the engine, and even outside on the left wing.

I remember having seen radiator problems in the Aero section here. Are the same radiators used for the trad vehicles? Anyone out there with a similar experience?

I don't see an obvious damage, and the hoses seem to be tight, but I suppose it's the radiator. Is it repairable, or must it be changed? I think, it's partially made of plastic, isn't it?

In case it has to be changed, is there a better choice, than the model currently installed?

Thanks for your advise thumbs

Sunny greetings,
Ivo

Hi,

In the Norwegian Mog club magazine, there was an article about
leaking plastic radiators on roadsters. One of the nozzles will break from fatigue. I think recommended solution to the problem is buying an aluminium radiator.

Check that all nozzles are intact, and be careful so you don't get sprayed with hot coolant.

My 2001 4/4 had a metal radiator which were starting to falla apart after 4000 miles. It were replaced with an aluminium radiator.

The advice here was a Aluminium one from Peter Mulberry at Mulfab- i visited peter and fitted it to my car - It is fantastic thoroughly recommend it

Hi Ivo,
On my Plus 8 which was originally fitted with a copper radiator, it has been changed three times under warranty and the forth, to be quiet, I changed for a new one in aluminium (Peter Mulberry).

Thanks for your comments thumbs

Just asked my dealer. They had quite a few radiators changed already. Seems to be a common problem. The replacement model, they now use, seems to be better. We shall see...

Sunny greetings,
Ivo

Moyen Ivo - I had the same problem on my series 1 Roadster but while it was being repaired I bought a series 2 which didn't give any radiator problems during my ownership.

Hi Ivo!

Popped in to your site and have to say that yellow/black combination is really looking great!!

Sad to hear about your radiator, a new one in alu will for sure solve it for a looong time. Here is something to cheer you up:

laugh2 Yes, it is dangerous to start up Photoshop during coffe breaks....you never know what bizarr outcome that might appear cuckoo Next one could be inspired from the Landrover/Defenders...a black/white zebra look...for that Three Wheeler around Africa tour...and for that you need a good capacity radiator (trying desperate not to go off topic).
