Just re-reading the OP - years are not so important, particularly with older Morgans. The main thing to look out for is condition.
I've seen superb examples, more than 30 years old and I've seen rather ropey ones at less than half that. And mine, somewhere in between (getting a bit tatty around the edges - bit like myself laugh2 ).
Once you've done your reading, badgered the local (and not so local) Mog owners - and it doesn't take any real badgering, believe me, then go visit some of the specialist dealers, they're all helpful and would rather you had the car to suit you, than just sell you anything.
And the final comment - the car will pick you (just like a cat) grin2

Cheers,

Welcome to the forum. You've picked the right place as there's plenty of advice and opinions to help you - but at the end of the day the choice is very personal. As others have said, speak to some owners (there's no better place than to attend a noggin), scout round the dealers and above all take some test drives to see which model suits you best.

Good luck in your quest.

Welcome petrolcol. You will find owners of all types (trads, Aeros and three wheelers) and ages of Morgans on this forum, so hopefully we will be able to answer all your questions.

A Morgan will find you cheers , not you it. Best to go to the Morgan dealers and drive a few and compare.

A local Morgan dealer to you is Mike Duncan at Hartlebury Garage, Old Worcester Road, Hartlebury, Worcestershire, DY11 7XH. http://www.morgans4sale.co.uk/index.htm

If your visit is anything like our first dealer visit, We were totally uninitiated, but smitten with a choice of only three ready to go. It was the Sunset Yellow 4/4, with no hesitation (he who hesitates etc) and we never regretted that moment of 'Haste'. love
Welcome to the forum, bye the way wine
I also will be popping in to Lifes on my way through Southport on my Solo Grande Tour for H4H in April. drive

HI from someone who aboput this time last year was in exactly the same situation. i drove 120 miles to cranfield to see a pre loved red morgan +4. had a drive and loved every minute.
living in the shadow of the factory i called in in late April placed an order in May and i have been driing round in my new 4/4 ever since August. travelled 3500 miles been on a weekend morgan outing in hastings and been invited to \boulogne in April to the french MSCC weekend outing.
Mike Duncan is a very experienced Morgan Owner-Mechanic-Dealer and is a very respected person in the morgan world.
you will find that Morgan dealers are not your normal car salesman the will only sell you what you want and yes the car will pick you. Happy morganeering an there is no cure or antidote for the Morgan desease.

A year year ago this week...the start of my Morgan experience, thanks to a factory visit six weeks earlier! Picked it up from the factory (ex- factory car) and only then discovered the delights of Mike Duncan's place just down the road from me. Great guys he and his son Ben and as MM say, a lot of experience and well respected. AND....bonus.....his place is like stepping back 50 years or more...perfect backdrop to a Morgan. AND.......to tempt you even more once you've got your car, there's John Worrall's Heart of England right next door for all the goodies you'll ever want for your car.....AND just down the road in Ombersley there's a great watering hole for lunch!

Agreed 100%.

I had been looking for a Morgan for nearly 9 months, had driven a few used ones just to get the feel. Visited Mike and Ben Duncan, Ben explained what to look for when buying a Morgan. So when I got a call from Ben saying he thought they had just got in the car for me I had no hesitation to drive there, and as I said above, A11OGE was waiting for me to be its owner. As the previous owner had only done 700 in the previous two years, and only used it to go to the pub etc, after I had owned it a short time a number of issues came to light (including a 800 mile round trip to Le Mans). With no hesitation Mike Duncan resolved all the issues.

So take your time, drive a few, and the car will find you.

Steve,
Ben has had a bad accident he got his left hand jambed in his boat engine I heard part of his thumb and finger missing . I phoned Mike y/day and thank Goodness its not but maybe his tendons damaged . He was rushed to the local hospital sat 2 hours to see a doctor and the bloke had gone home without seeing Ben . Idiot is not a good enough word . Mike said the jokes are flying Ben cant wipe his own arse , British humour thank God for it , toughens you up when you are down . drive
