Hi,

Just to let you know there is a BRG Morgan +4 on Wheeler Dealers on Tuesday Night..

It is a 1993 car, and it should be getting a new chassis, which will be interesting..

I sadly will have to wait to find it on Youtube...

Think it sold for 21k in the end..

Watched it last night.
+4 Reg J40 MOG (if memory serves me right)
Bought from Richard Thorne Morgans for £13,000 as seen needing a new chassis and for restoration only.
Estimated to take 100 man hours to replace the old chassis for a new chassis from the factory.
Allegedly after 10 hours the cowl & grill, bonnet, radiator, both front wings and I think the inner wings had been removed by two men.
I think I must have been doing something wrong when I stripped my 4/4 down to the chassis cos it took a lot longer than that.
When they removed the trim from the sill boards they appeared to be stained very black but no mention of the condition of the wood work.
The same with the bottom of the bulkhead it showed signs of rot but this wasnt mentioned.
However the bulkhead bottom appeared to have had repair sections welded in place on reassembly.
I found it incredible that they took delievery of a new galvanised chassis and then proceeded to drill hundreds of holes in it.
I prefer to dry build the car and strip it down again and have the chassis treated then.

At least they used zinc paint on the holes, unlike the factory...

Doubtless it's better to dry build the car, then strip it all down again and have it all painted, but I guess that's only a sensible proposition when you aren't paying for the time. I'm not sure it would be economically feasible to do it on a commercial basis when you have to factor in labour charges a 40 pounds plus per hour.

There are a few pictures on the website, including this view showing the new chassis.

The car was bought by a dealer but I can't see it for sale at any of the usual places, maybe it's already gone.

I notice the programme makers posted on this very forum last year: Morgan Plus 4 Needed for TV Appearance

Seems like an interesting scenario. RT sells a car needing a restoration to Wheeler Dealers for 13k, gets approx 8k's worth of work done on it and then buys it back for 21k. Puts it on the market for 21995.

Seems to me like everyone comes out a winner. RT makes a nice profit, Wheeler Dealers make an interesting TV programme, and some buyer gets a reasonably well restored car with an interesting history for 22k. Sorted.

D'oh! blush The only dealer I didn't look at. On the programme he just said that he had a "dealer friend" who was interested. He didn't say it was the same dealer he'd bought the car from!!! No wonder they got a representative of his "friend" to do the deal.

£21,995. Only £995 more than the programme allegedly sold it for. Actually, doesn't sound like bad value to me knowing what's been done to it. It seems to have aged a year though.

The program is now up on you tube. Wheeler Dealers Morgan plus 4 new episode. Very interesting. It is about 45 mins long.
Ed China replaces the rusting chassis and upgrades the front and rear suspension as well as the front brakes.
