If trad production is reduced for a couple of years, that can only help their residual values? Bud __________________ 2003 - 4/4 Triumph Bonneville

Mogwire is quoting the Birminham post.

And people wonder why Mogwire is viewed with suspicion! I would say that misdescribing a shift in production f as a 'drop in trad sales' is more than merely mischievous, it's yet another example of weasel words calculated to sow seeds of doubt rather than a dispassionate reporting of the facts.
.vc Grief Tim bit harsh mate. It seems you are misquoting a bit. If they make less they will sell less therfore there will be a drop in sales. Wondering why the change in emphasis seems valid to me? (Grief but it's hard to use a web based Forum on a Smartphone)

Nice to know Morgan is doing well. Birminham Post has quoted profit figures that many major car makers would envy (many can't seem to make a profit at all). Particularly when taken as a percentage of capital invested and the number of employees. Waiting times for cars are now stretching out again. They alread have orders for the M3W to last until next year and the other day someone was desperately searching for a dealer who had a vacant building slot for a trad this side of (I think) October. Regarding young people: I drove past a family group yesterday and destinctly heard an excited boy say to all and sundry "I want one too!" That's how the dream is born

Not sure how I'm misquoting, I used the same words in the same order from Mogwire? The tone and meaning of the Mogwire article is clear, it presents the revised production arrangements as if they were a response to a drop in Trad sales and orders, whereas in fact the revised production is nothing of the kind. By contrast, it seems to me to be in response to the massive popularity of the MTW and the accompanying glut of orders, plus of course the new Plus 8 which has got over 80 orders already. It's possible that trad sales are falling as people convert their orders to MTWs or Aero-based models, but there is no evidence of that from the BP article. Much more likely is that trad demand is continuing much as it always has done, at around 400 - 500 units per year, but that demand for Aero models and MTWs is burgeoning.

this may not be relavent. i ordered my 4/4 trad last september and was told i could have a build slot for that November. so i guess it can only do both the trad brand and the values good to slow production and create demand. i also agree with some of the views that trad buyers are after something diffrent.im left a little cold by the modern stuff, but love the trads and 3 wheeler

Lies damn lies and statistics If Morgan sell 400 cars a year and they are all trads then 100% trad production. If Morgan sell 800 cars and 400 are trads you can accurately say trad sales have dropped 50% as a proportion if total output. Its musleading and pointless, but technically true. Nothing new, and like most numbers reported on the media - meaningless without some context....

Reckon there's a considerable "halo" effect around the new Plus 8 just now. At £85k a pop, I can't see that lasting too long. There's some seriously sexy stuff around at that sort of money - and less. New F-Type Jag - to name but one.
I'm not saying the Plus 8 won't continue to find buyers - it certainly will (me for one, if I can find a good enough excuse/justification one day - or, more likely, find an owner with "buyer's remorse" and a need for cash - quick). But I think it'll settle down to a more normal level fairly quickly. Same goes for the new SS Coupe - only more so.
Meanwhile, we Trad owners can be relieved to see fewer unsold/unregistered trads languishing in dealers' showrooms - maybe none - and order times back to a healthier norm.
