I'm with 1560 on this one. It's always worth remembering that Morgans have been built by men with tools, therefore they can be fixed by men with tools.

One might live hundreds of miles from one's nearest official Morgan dealer, but one doesn't normally live hundreds of miles from a decent knowledgeable mechanic, and such people are usually equipped with computers, telephones and fax machines. They also have the ability to figure out who to ask if they can't fix something on their own.

There are no warranty issues with having one's car worked on by a non-official dealer, provided genuine spare parts are used, then the company has to honour its warranty (this is true of all car manufacturers, not just MMC).

The best plan of all, of course, is to ensure that the car owner and the knowledgeable mechanic are one and the same person - it avoids all sorts of problems :-)

Yes a fault like this is indicative of a minor problem with the circuit design but, at the end of the day, it is a curiosity and totally unimportant.

Who cares if you have two warning lights flashing when the engine is turned off. As we used to say about computer programs "that's not a bug, it's a feature"

Well, it is this aspect of the Morgan ownership that proves that this enterprise has nothing to do with rational thinking. The Morgan is nearly entirely an emotional decision.
Why else would intelligent, successful men who can afford the Morgan(arguably, not the cheapest cars around...) part with so much $$ to fix things that should have otherwise been fixed at the factory?! It's not out of stupidity...but for precisely the reason above - you have to expect a few niggles to arise from a car built truly by hand.

Don't get me wrong, if I could own a new Mog here in the States - I would do it in a heartbeat and deal with the same issues you gents deal with in your ownership. But I can't, so instead I will just complain to hide my pain frown

I'm not sure have valid the "car built truly by hand is" in the case of the Three Wheeler. Much of the car is sourced from outside manufacturers and suppliers. The chassis together with engine and transmission is supplied to the company ready assembled, the body ditto....the factory makes the ash frame which is sent to the body manufacturers who mount the body on it and return it to the factory. All the dash assembly and electrics are bought in. The factory merely assembles the car, paints and trims it. Oh......and pops a bit of magic into it on the way love

The MTW production at MMC might well be more of a putting together of sub-assemblies sourced from outside companies, but which of these are not built by hand? I suppose the S&S engine production might be mechanised, but I'd be surprised if the rest of it isn't made by blokes armed with spanners, hammers and welding torches?

I've been busy and only managed to get in the garage this evening and mine is the same. I'm booked in for a first service after the Bank Holiday weekend so I'll ask about it.

Similar feature exists on the late aeros with a light behind the dash illuminating when the keys are removed. I heard this described as a features.
