Yet another delay on the 3.7 Roadster. Now there's a missing module that Fords have promised but not delivered.
<rant>
I accept that Ford have let Morgan down, but why are Morgan still promising delivery dates? They must have known that this module was missing, but they've now promised another batch of customers delivery dates that they have no way of knowing if they can deliver! All I wanted was a replacement for the car I lost to fire, but what should have been a good experience has turned into a nightmare of broken promises. I'm not sure I want the car any more, I'm so fed up with it all.
</rant>
I think I'll go down the pub...
Ian

Sorry to hear that news. It is still raining.

It WILL be worth the wait. We are also waiting to read your write up when your Roadster is delivered.

Have that beer.

You DO want the car. Once you get behind the wheel all the delays will be forgotten and the smile will re-appear.

Have one for me while you're down the pub. cheers

Ian,

Sorry to hear that the delays are taking the shine off your replacement car. I cannot offer much consolation other than I have been told the new V6 Roadster is an absolutely brilliant drivers car.

Believe me - you want that car. I agree that the delays are frustrating but that will all be forgotten the moment you take the wheel in your hands.

I really understand your frustration and suffer with you! I am sure Morgan also would love to deliver your car a.s.a.p. When delays and problems in product development appears suppliers very often estimates time frames from the best case scenario....and with more suppliers involved the chain reaction are there and causes even more slips in time.

The "positive" thing is that no one else has got theirs either and that you probably will have a "better and more finished" car when it arrives. I keep my thumbs crossed that your much longed for Roadster will materialize soon...and as already said - we long for your report from the first tour!!

Herman01 that had to wait for his M3W for some months (standing finished at the dealer awaiting paperwork) wrote that: at least the lacquer have had time to harden...

Hope the pub helped wine

Hoping the time goes quickly until you're new Roadster is ready to be with you. In the meantime you have the best wishes I'm sure of the folks on here and I'm also sure we all look forward to hearing your impressions of the new machine. When you look across the bonnet for the first time - these delays will seem less important and more just simple 'process.' The car will be worth the wait.

Have a great evening at the pub.
M smile

Thanks for all the kind words, chaps. Wouldn't it be nice if Morgan said something? What makes it all worse is that the car was paid for 6 weeks ago on (one of) Morgan's promised delivey dates.

now you know:
- how a guy awaits his threewheeler
- how a lotus guy awaits his new exige s
and most of all, how a MP4-12c owner still gets lost because his satnav won't work till august2012 (and that is a 220000euro car!!)

your patience will be rewarded
imho THE ultimate morgan will be yours in a few months

Another way of looking at is you are going to be in the fortunate position of being one of the first to sample the brand new 3.7, hardly a catastrophe even though it is a few months late thumbs

I just noticed my avatar. I built that engine in 18 months. Perhaps I should build a Roadster. Probably be quicker...

Your got a great avatar (googled it long time ago innocent) - would love to see it running. But compared to your new Roadster I guess it is on the other end regarding road holding and acceleration...so you for sure NEED a Roadster to laugh2

Cars are in build now. Ford sent them the wrong ECU's and then "couldn't figure out" why that was a problem. They have now been sent the correct units and things are in full swing. They are flat out trying to sort the backlog of orders.
Morgan have been royaly done due to the incompetence of others so please don't hold it against them. Maybe they could have communicated the issues in a better manner in your case.
I have been visiting the factory today and have spoken to many of the team involved and believe me, they are as fed up and frustrated as you.
I'm sure you will love the car when it arrives. But remember, perfection takes time, especially when there are outside parties involved.

Thanks, James Mc. I hope you're right. The message I got yesterday from my dealer ( which he got from Steve Morris, production Director) was, basically, that a control module was missing, with no date for the supply from Fords.
I completely understand the problems that Ford et al have caused Morgan ( I have a small business & know what it's like). And I also understand that a new product cannot be developed to a timetable. My gripe is the continuous stream of promises that Morgan must know cannot be met, which has resulted in me paying for the car at least a month before I get it ( & that's being optimistic!) and a month's worth of insurance ( needed to register the car on the promise delivery date).
Let's hope you're right & the ECU's were delivered yesterday. My car has been sitting in the trim shop for at least a month now...

Yup. They had previously delivered Auto trans compatible ECUs and they now have the correct manual spec ones. Which one in the trim ship is yours? I'm sure to have seen it today. Whichever one it is they all look amazing smile

It's the same colour scheme as my last one, which committed hara kiri by fire last year. Did you notice the dash? No one seems to have seen one yet...

The battery cable shorted on the battery clamp bolt. First I noticed was when the brakes gave out as the pipes burnt through. It was an interesting few minutes...
With the help of a couple of borrowed fire extinguishers & a showman working nearby, we managed to contain the fire to the back of the car but it was still written off frown

The latest from my dealer: As far as he knows, Morgan are still waiting for the parts from Ford. Wouldn't it be nice if Morgan told us what the **** is going on!

I heard from an industry source that the issue is not Morgan or Ford but actually a third party who Ford engaged to develop the ECU....and then failed to deliver...and continue to fail to deliver. There are plenty of the engines around and in stock..

Surprising as the name I was given is a well known tuner of Fords in the USA...

Revolve is the company and as per my previous posts they supplied Auto ECUs. This has now been rectified and they have the manual spec ECUs going into the built cars as I type this.

Shiremog. As you're just up the road from me you'll have to give me a peek at your shiney new car when it appears.

I had to wait two years for one car, 30 months for another and many months for a third...... In all cases there was no route to the factory, nobody to talk to except 12 year old sales people at the dealership.

At least you get to see the occassional photo and have some word from the factory - not that that is much comfort I guess.

On the upside, at least you don't have to drive it in these awful drought conditions.

(Just trying to cheer you up). smile

I wait as well for my Roadster. Promised delivery date was March 2012. Now I got October 2012. eek This is very late and there will be snow soon where I’m living. cold So, I think positive and expect the car in spring 2013 for the new Roadster season... drive

Good approach, Eremit. Morgans were never delivered on time. The same as to you happened to me 45 years ago. I still have the not so friendly correspondence between Peter Morgan and me cheers

My dealer went to the factory yesterday. The "Control Units" are still not in. This would suggest that someone at the factory is telling porkies...
