Another way around it would be to get a half bonnet with scoop ( left hand side as opposed to the orginal triumph engined Plus 4 right hand side job) made by someone like Malvern Sheet metal - would cosy you about £495 and apart from being a really pro way of doing it, it gives an excellent air source for the TB's
G That´s what I think, I have already got with the +4SS.

I know from experience that the internal ITG filter will not clear the 60mm air horns on the Aero Racing throttle bodies on the 4/4 using the standard PX600 backplate. I don't know what length the air horns are on the +4SS. There doesn't appear to be enough space to use a stepped backplate as it would move the outside of the airbox into contact with the bonnet. Don.

I have measured the air horns, they are 40mm (as described on the Jenvey page for Mazda 2.0 throttle body kit) and I phoned Jenvey to be sure. So I can use the internal itg filter. A cheaper solution could be this one: http://www.pipercross.net/competition/products_600_airbox.aspBut it looks as one would get warmer air only, because the bow departs the intake from the scoop - and with a filter fitted even more, therefore not getting the benefit of cold air, the scoop in the bonnet delivers.

The Pipercross 600 is what I had fitted to my 4/4 race car for the last 2 seasons. It's useful as it's lower profile, but there is a trade off in terms of total potential flow.

Hi Cerealsurfer
thanks for your comment. In the meantime I have had a closer view to the pic of Don´s 4/4. It looks like the whole engine is leaner and the throttle bodies are more inside the bonnet. On the P4SS the standard Piper cross airfilter is already using part of the scoop. I guess I have bad luck neither with the Reverie nor with the Piper cross solution as both items are more extended than the bonnet allows.

You can see from some of my pics on here we ended up cutting a hole in the inner wheelarch to feed the intake pipe through, fed by an intake in the front wing. Intake space is really constrained. There are some shorter TB's out there which help with packaging.

Hi Cerealsurfer, In the depths of my geriatric mind I seem to recall that varying the length of the air horns can alter the characteristics of the power delivery to some degree. Is it shorter horns = more top end power, longer horns = more low end torque? Don.

Sorry to 'butt in ' on the question ( which was of course addressedto cereal but my undertsnading is that the shorter the horn, the power shifts higher up the rev range ( I think there was a very good piece on this either on the Jenvey or ITG website)
Regards, G
