Hi, I've got a new tonneau cover (factory model, vinyl one) for my 4/4 Sport. The fasteners came in a little plastic bag, for me to fit on the cover. I have the tools to fit them on, but I wonder what's the best way of fitting the tonneau on the car? Should I start at the middle front, work each side and then rear - or? How much should I stretch it?
Any advise?

Hi Torstein. I always thought that the fasteners were fitted to the factory tonneau...thats a new one for me!

Personally, I would work from the rear middle, outwards and then from the middle front fastener on the scuttle top, leaving the side poppers on the door and just behind the door until last. There needs to be some tension in the tonneau to keep it taut if you are driving with half tonneau over passenger side. Mine needed about 10mm to stretch it tight but then it may vary from car to car being hand built!

As each car is different if you order the tonneau latter it needs to be built to suit the car.

I would do as Jay suggested. Thanks how I fix mine on.

Mine came with the fixings in a bag. You will find it much easier with a hole punch. Do the front & rear first and the sides 'later'.

The only other advice Torstein............measure twice, cut once and take your time!!!

If you fit it when the ambient temperature is on the higher side, then the cover will be tight when it's cold. Otherwise it will be loose in warm weather–if that's a possibility where you are.
