The glovebox lid on my Roadster is driving me mad. mad Every-time I go over bump it pops open. It appears to be secured by a magnetic catch. Anyone have any ideas oh how to stop it happening.

Never had ours pop open so it must be that an adjustment is required or that you have to replace the catch. It looks to me to be an item that is used in many cabinets so it should be possible to find a replacement without too much trouble.

I think the internals of the fixed part (not the part on the lid) must contain some sort of mechanism that locks in on the first push and releases on the second. If that mechanism is not locking in properly it could be the problem alternatively if the fixed part is too far back in the glovebox it may make the attachment to the magnet too weak. you could look to see if it can be brought forward a little and still have the glove box close correctly.

Try some lock tight on the hinges.... just kidding.
With a magnet latch, sounds like the magnet may be too far from the metal it is connecting to. Try adjusting it closer, or loosening the screws to allow it to get closer.
My latch is a friction fit and seems to work fine. You could try changing it from a magnet to a friction latch.

Isn't that video taken in the disc brake shop at the factory?
I was there last November and remember that rhythmic ringing sound...

Mine is a one off dash but the same happened to me if you have the same catches look at the catch on the lock and its fitting it looks like a step from memory and is of a soft metal just give it a small tug it should then nip tight .

I rang the factory with the part number, they said they didn't have a match for that part number, but perhaps a cigar lighter socket would do. How the hell am i going jam that in the glovebox. Back to the drawing board !!!!!! gloomy

Very good Neil... laugh2
We seem to have hi-jacked your thread...
No lid on the glove compartment of my '76 so can't really help.
My +4 had a spring latch, as one might find on some cupboard doors. Never had a problem with that.

Cheers,
