Why?
Surely what should concern us isn't weight per se but UNSPRUNG WEIGHT
A much more useful issue I would suggest?

I'm sorry. it may be my stupidity but how can that be? The only way that could be is if thre was NO weight at all below the axle line and, even to my untutored eye, that aint the case?

Mine weighs more than most plus4's -- that's because I weigh more than most drivers!!!!!!!! grin2

A driver weight reduction is probably the least costly performance enhancement you can get -- now, why is it so bloody hard to loose weight!! doh

I fully agree. I´m not the most heaviest guy but with a chance to loose 12 kg. That is calculated in carbon parts a lot of money...

One year during cowes week we were having breakfast at a café and the crew of a 1/2 tonner on the next table were animatedly discussing how they could cut the weight of their boat. As they ran through all the things they could jettison/drill holes in, our skipper leant over, pointed at one of their number and helpfully suggested "Why don't you just get rid of fatso there". Their was a brief silence before the reply came "er......it's his boat".

In fact our skipper was wrong - on boats like that moveable ballast is usually a good thing (up to a point). It's the immobile variety one can do without.
