I made the phone call to the person concerning the sale of the S4, the return call came straight back and asked how he could help. (now i must stress i have made this call under my own steam, i do not suggest in anyway who is right and who is wrong here)
I asked the question how much ?, let me tell you about the car he suggested, ( by the way this is a Morgan dealer who has this car) The car was purchased brand new by someone overseas, he drove the car away without regestering it in the UK, the owner had a crash in Brussels, the UK dealer was asked to recover the car to the Uk where upon they started to repair the vehicle, i am advised that the car has had a new Chassis leg and various other bits, half way through the repair, the repairers were advised the Insurance would not pay out, therefore the completion of the work was put on stop.
The car has been in secured storage since, it seems the dealer is looking to recover his costs against the value of the car and then pass on the change to the owner.
Let us in our heads see where we are with price then i suggested, the dealer reckons FINISHED the car is worth £72K and want's as it stands £50k
Now in my opinion although the car is not CAT D (THATS UNTIL YOU TRY AND PUT IT BACK ON THE ROAD AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT IS!!!!) DVLA and there wisdom, the car is about 2/3rds value of a straight one with a better story than SMASHED UP IN BELGIUM, i personnaly think the car is worth £20K and it would have to be a Photo, Filmed or dual repair with purchaser to satisfy him/her that that car is 100% put back together like in the factory
Let me know your thoughts

I made the same phone call and thought if it was £30k ish it maybe worth looking at, but not at £50k.
Never going to be worth top money which I figured was £65k.

car has had a new Chassis leg and various other bits, half way through the repair,
I didn't think this was possible given the bonded nature of the chassis. If it has been done surely this is the hard part as all the other bits just bolt on. Although I would suspect that a new passenger airbag will require a new dash.

How much to put back together do you estimate? This is a hard one and why you have to caution on price, many issues come into it. In the conversation i suggested there would be lots more work than you can visual see, the Dealer asked why ! because there are forces going from the front at impact right back to your bum, where you sit, so it would have to be measured. he agreed with my theory, but then announced it had already been straightened and a new leg fitted. So lets assume it is straight (i would want to see a print out from a Laser jig) i still think this car has £10-£15K to go before it is right. Then you still have the added aspect that the story is always there, if i was that dealer that car would of been brought back under a blanket and never ever reaveled to anyone until it was right, imho never ever try and sell half a job NOTHING OR COMPLETE is the only way !!!! There is plenty of repairers could make that car right however the story will always devalue it £20K IMO I have my £20k ready
