I didn't want to wander off topic on the Carroll Shelby thread.

I had this amusing thought of a V8 for the M3W:

Here is a bit of video of it in action. If you want to watch just the lap jump forward to about 7:25

Great piece of nostalgia and much interest in this V8 from the bike fans. Somehow I was expecting a deeper grunt when it was started up, clearly very high revving prevented this.

Giuseppe "Pino" Todero, the guy who crashed the other Guzzi V8, is a mate of mine. When I sympathised with him and said that must have been embarrassing he said, a bit sharply, "Why embarrassing? I have done it, you haven't" I hope he didn't think I was criticising him.

He went on to say that he was trying to pass another rider before the corner and simply came in too "hot" and couldn't brake enough.

A classic case of the "red mist" coming down. Can happen to us all.

Lets face it the man is Italian and passion runs high with these guys and like he says he's done it.

I guess its hard to be humble when your on the edge having been filmed crashing out.

Your right just a case of the old red mist and who of us hasn't been there eh!! mad2

I love the totally random application of your Guzzi agenda. A high revving 500cc V8 with 1/16th of the swept capacity per cylinder of the S&S motor in the M3W would hardly be 3 wheeling Nirvana. Mind you, I understand where you're coming from as the collected works of Dr. Fabio Taglioni, engineering genius of Ducati fame remain very close to my heart.
