Yesterday, myself and two other PaddyMogs, Nick & Alain rose at the unearthly hour of 4.00am to fly from Dublin to Bristol. Once there we were picked up by Peter Constable of Newtown Motors(Where I bought my Plus4) He and Glyn drove us to the Morgan Factory where we had a great day test driving the Three wheeler and the new Plus8.

What to say of the cars - well -- the 3 wheeler is like nothing else I have ever experienced - plenty of power to really thrill and great roadholding to boot. Mind you as you carefully straddle a pothole with the front wheels it's easy to forget that the central rear wheel goes straight in and almost launches passengers!! sorry Peter!!! It's a real blast to drive and plasters a silly grin on the face. Shame I need to win the lotto!

The Plus8 is in another league altogether - pussy foot around town or in traffic in full auto and it seems like any other auto box. Get to the edge of town out of the speed limit and a gap opens up 5 cars ahead - foot down and the whole world changes you hear a growl and something kicks you in the behind and suddenly you have made the pass (perhaps almost a "laundry moment" though for Glyn, my passenger as he wondered how to explain how the demonstrator got bent!!!!!) The car is absolutely brilliant and to drive it a special time - would I like one -- Bloody Hell, YES -- now all I have to do is to win the aforementioned Lotto. I guess I'll have to actually buy a ticket!!!

While in the factory we met a German bloke, Roger from Mannheim - a customer of Peter's who was there to see his new roadster as it made its way through the Trim Shop - It was really nice to see the excitement as he saw his car for the first time!! He is to return in a few weeks with his 17yo daughter to drive the car back to Germany!! I hope we enthused him to come to the Le Mans Classic and experience a real gathering of Morgans!!

A few photos are below

A massive vote of thanks to Peter & Glyn from Newtown Motors -- the connection is that I am a very satisfied customer, nothing else!!

Hi Roger,
Sorry to take so long to reply to you - here are a few pictures of some modifications which I have found very useful to the car -

1 Fit stainless door checks - these hold the door opn and stop the door swinging back and either bruising your shin, or worse still, putting a black mark on your wife's new white trousers!!!

Next fit some "P" section rubber to the top of the windscreen - this stops rain seeping in over the top of the screen when the roof is up.

Also a "Z" piece of foam on the top of the windscreen pillars where the roof rail rests also stops water ingress at this point.

I have put a strip of "D" section rubber strip along the top of the door between the door and the sidescreen. This stops draughts and rain from coming up over the door side when driving with the sidescreens on.

The foam and rubber strips are available from "Woolies" http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk and the door checks from Librands http://www.librands.co.uk

Also get Peter to fit a remote greasing kit to the car before you take delivery - this means you can grease the front suspension by just lifting the bonnet rather than jacking up the car and getting underneath.

I hope this is useful -- good luck and many happy miles in the new car.
