Looks like the Morgan has made it to the Indy 500 checkpoint, although I never saw it in Detroit. First peek at 0:10 sec and then a pass by at 1:21.

I have one big question (in fact another follows...)

HOW the F¨<x did Charles get his lady on board of the M3W for such an epic drive???

(second question: maybe he got the "right" woman for the job and I failed to find a Mog-compatible-woman)

Have you not seen "The Gumball Rally". I think it preceded the Canonball films. I can still see the Belgian? entrant lying on the ground after sliding off his Kawasaki KH400, looking up into tree branches, from where his bike was about to descend on him laugh2

Had a friend who managed to "loose it" on a curve that was a bit tighter than he expected. He was doing about 150 klicks at the time and miraculously slid between the trees and walked away unscathed. His bike was not so lucky and impacted with several solid gum trees. Some bit of it finished up hanging in the branches 30 feet up.

His friends who were with him at the time could not believe he only had a few scratches and bruises.

I have seen the photos so I can be sure it was not just a good story.

Ok, Morgan are now competing in a very hard market but surely he can do better than this. What next- the Morgan golf cart featured in 'Golf' Magazine?

I know many TMers will say " Ah, he's whingeing again" but i just cannot help thinking that Charles ain't doing an awful lot to keep his traditional market and at the same time not imressing any new buyers!

PS is the Oak Racing car REALLY a Morgan- What a joke!

G

It cannot be "publicity" as the entry prejudices the perception of the company and the product. But I agree with others here. It is his idea of fun which everyone is entitled to. They should simply have been discrete about it.

I do not understand your last comment. The Company is very clear on the depth of their partnership with Oak Racing.

“Whilst Morgan sports cars enjoy a great history we have also gained a reputation for pioneering new technology, and I believe LMP2 represents a superb proving ground in which to develop innovative new methods”.

“Our partnership presents the opportunity for the next generation of Morgans to embrace new technological advances, particularly with the implementation of materials such as carbon fibre and top level aerodynamics, elements that are key to LMP2 cars. What’s more, we now have the chance to develop efficient, high-end performance machinery.”

I saw the Factory blurb as well and if it is an accurate reflection of the input which MMC are having into the Oak racing programme, then what they say is fair and reasonable. The slight problem I do have is that if one looks at any other source of comment - including Oak themselves- MMC's contribution seems much much less than stated in the Factory's comments. If this IS the case ( and if it's not then I'm happy to be corrected) then what we are looking here is surely more in the realms of how Rob described it " an Oak Racing car with Morgan stickers" than any real collaborative venture which MMC can use as a testing and proving ground for their technoloigical material

I'm also prepared to accept that MMC won't be the first ones to go down this road, For example anyone who remembers some of the aspects of the Lola- Ford 'collaboration' is probably having a slight sense of deja vu just now and perhaps to an extent the same could be said of the modern day 'Bentley' entry.
Cheers
G
