Buying second hand

After dreaming of owning a Morgan for some 30 years I am now close to actually purchasing either a 4/4 or plus 4. I am considering buying a nearly new car from a Morgan dealer. Can anyone advice if it is normal to offer less than the asking price in such cases or is this unlikely to be successful when purchasing such a niche market car. I have seen dealers offering cars with delivery mileage only, in such cases are they usually priced above the list price as you avoid the waiting list. Being unfamiliar with many of the options and a bit confused by them I am finding it difficult to determine what the list price would be in such cases. Apologies for my ignorance but hoping that from this forum I will learn from others.

A better strategy might be to get them to chuck in a few extras? Something to watch...is if they say they are going to include a "service" let them be specific what level of service this is. I thoughts "Check Service" was a proper service (oil etc.) it isn't. Demand a Full Service (if not recently undertaken). Also a good length of warranty.

When we bought our car from Mike Duncan, Ben was emphatic that no discount was possible. However, he included a number of extras in the deal - and we were really happy with the end result. It will pay to make sure you understand exactly what you want adding to the car. If you have not already done so, join the MSCC and attend your local Noggin to see how other people have tailored their cars. You will come away with some great ideas on how you will use the car yourself and what makes most sense.

It's unlikely to be successful if you don't do it. I offered 10% under the asking price and we settled at somewhere farly close to that. These people are car dealers like any others.

I bought mine from the factory...haggled the part ex price a bit, got a couple of extras thrown in with the deal and came away with a decent price.

Thank you very much for your help. As this was my first post I am amazed at how helpful people have been in such a short time after posting my question.
Can anyone give an opinion on the second part of my question which relates to buying a new car from dealers stock, are these sold above list price as you are getting around the waiting list?
Due to my ignorance and not fully understanding the details of all the options I am struggling to determine this.
I will certainly look to attend a noggin if people are as helpful as in this community.

You may be thinking of list price as the basic price, whereas most dealer cars are specced up to some degree. Look on the MMC website at the price list and you’ll see how quickly the desirable extras add to the cost. I’m not aware of dealers inflating the asking prices, because you could probably spec up a new car and have it delivered ‘this year’.
