The latest Autocar has an article "Morgan 3 wheeler vs rivals" The rivals are a Caterham Seven Supersport and Grinall Scorpion III. The M3W earns first place and four out of five stars.

Next week a full road test of the M3W is promised......

Whoops - I made a typo. Should be 80 bhp at 6900 rpm and 103 lb ft at 3250 rpm.

Do they choose the rivals around pricing or some other criteria? The Caterham Supersport 7 seems like it maybe belongs in a different category?

No clear criteria - all three are minimalist sports cars. The Caterham appears to have been chosen for comparison as it has "a radical fourth wheel".

Today's issue of Autocar has the full M3W review. It is worth a read. The number of stars has increased from four in last week's article to five this week's road test, and the performance figures have changed too. Needless to say it is well liked - "The biggest giggle a new car has delivered in years".

Yes, a good article. I liked the lines;

So when anyone in our office doubted that the Morgan 3 Wheeler was worthy of the five-star rating it gets here, we stuck them in the driver's seat and asked them to return some time later. And now there is no one within these walls who doubts the 3 Wheeler deserves its full five stars.
Unashamedly, the 3 Wheeler sets out to put the biggest smile imaginable on its driver's face.

"Unashamedly, the 3 Wheeler sets out to put the biggest smile imaginable on its driver's face."

And, I can testify that it not only puts a smile on its driver's face either, but on a recent trip through my local town, virtually everyone who I passed, smiled, laughed and drew it to the attention of the people they were with - truly a happy car. I love it.
