A very wet trip to the factory today to meet up with George (007) and his father and to see his stunning 4/4 Sport. Lots of activity going one with seemingly the emphasis on Roadsters, Plus8s and Three Wheelers. Sad to see the Despatch Hall is being converted into a store room...completed cars awaiting despatch are off to a place near Northampton
A real shame, part of the enjoyment was seeing completed cars in the Hall and where they were off to. At least the stuffed owl is going to remain!
I wish it hadn't been raining so hard, I didn't manage to photo it...Georges 4/4 Sport has some stunning details. All black, earlier rear reflectors and dropped number plates for a cleaner look and a great sounding side exit sports exhaust system. Wider tyres on standard wheels but with a traditional looking profile. It was the dashboard that really got me....black crackle finish with matching steering column shroud, no indicator stalks....a toggle switch on the dash instead and all switches replaced with toggles set into a couple of leather covered inset panels......very vert subtle and tasty! Dished MotoLita wheel with bespoke black rim and horn push to set it all off.
As usual some interesting cars about, one that caught my eye was an Ivory Plus4 with matching hard top. I thought they had stopped the hardtop but obviously not! Another car that caught my eye was under a cover...a crashed competition car, Roadster or Plus8 judging by the wheels, silver and dark blue. A write off by the looks of it and I really didn't feel like photographing it for some reason.
A couple of 4/4s being built and interesting to see that they are using the same inner front wings as the new Roadster...saving costs no doubt.
