Has anyone caught any of this series on Sky Atlantic?

I'm just watching the first one I've seen, and they are covering the E-Type and the Mini; so far, so good. Looks like an interesting television program and well done.

Anyone seen other episodes?

I saw one which included a veteran Daimler, a brief history of Rolls and Royce, the Bentley boys and featured a Rover P5 Coupe as the chosen transport of the presenter.

If it's the one with Paul McGann then you're in for a treat. Paul seems to be slightly at odds driving most of the Marques and this makes you experience the thrill with him. He approaches them with a respect which is uncommon in these programs. Most presenters appear quite familiar with these rare cars. Paul McGann somehow makes it real. There's an Ariel Atom segment which will have you throwing chips at the screen. All great fun.

I shall have to hope they appear on Freeview at some stage!
Sounds like a very interesting series!

Cheers,

Here in Aus there has been a very interesting series by the ABC called "Wide Open Road". It tells the story of cars in Australia, from teh very first, to crossing Australia, Holden and Ford (of course), garages etc. Very interesting and very well put together. There are pieces with everyday folk talking about their first car, parents car, what it meant having the freedom etc.

One quote sticks with me and will do for ever. There is an older lady sat in her 1960's car talking to the camera in a segment about drink driving and changes in attidude. She responds in a typically Aussie twang.....

..."of course we had to drive, we were to pi$$ed to walk"

It's unfortunate that Sky has chosen to put it on their "Sky Atlantic" channel which isn't available anywhere else but Sky.

There is no American content so the only reason to put it there is to restrict it to those with a Sky dish, which is a shame because it's a great series.

Simon/ Graham, as always there are clips on Youtube and it'll be only a matter of time until it's all on there. Maybe not the best way to watch a great program but you'd see some of the highlights. I'm guessing you'll wait to get the whole thing on repeat but just mentioning it anyway.
Cheers.
