Mine was horrible with the standard wheel, so I should not try it.
Another plus is that I get better room for my left leg now.

So, after a little digression, I can report back that I have now refitted the standard steering wheel, which I can hardly see over the top of, and the steering shake or kickback is as bad as ever, so not caused by my changing to an 11" [280mm] steering wheel.

Apparently the factory are reporting that they have changed the shock absorbers on one car so far, because of this, probably Simmos, does anyone know of any other cars so affected and what the cure is? I really can't see that the geometry being out a bit can cause such a bad reaction, but, maybe it does, what do I know?

Paul it really difficult to gauge this as a problem, mine will snatch but this only happens on rough roads with pot holes towards the edge of the road surface.

I have experienced similar before in older cars and have assumed that its part of the outcome of using narrow tyres. I think the only way we would resolve if this a single or multiple vehicle issue would be some back to back tested.

Certainly where I've experienced this it has been on roads where the surface wouldn't be suitable for a motorbike unless of the off road type.

I wouldn't have raised this as an issue if it was only snatch of the wheel on the sort of surface you describe, but this is not the case, it is bad enough to shake the wheel violently on ordinary give and take A and B road surfaces where I am traveling at between 20 - 70 mph and will shake the wheel out of my hands if not held really tightly. This is particularly dangerous on corners and makes it very difficult to place the car.

I know it is all relative and one mans wheel shake is another mans 'feel', but believe me, I am not being oversensitive about it, this is a real problem. Having said that, it is not fair to make a big fuss at this stage as my car hasn't yet had its' PDI, as I collected it directly from the factory, and it didn't get to the dealer first, it is booked into him in a few weeks time [he is 135 miles away, so not that convenient to drop by] and we will see what happens after that. It could come back as smooth as a baby's bottom. I'm only wondering if other cars have this problem, which they have, what may cause it and what has been done about it, maybe a faulty batch of dampers for example.

It is detracting from the driving experience, and if there are other cars with the same problem, then we can help each other.

I agree with you - after driving a week on British roads. It´s become better with a heavier steering wheel but can bee frightening at times. I asked Mark Baldwin at the factory what they are doing, but got the answer -"not much".
Today I will test-drive one with steering damper and see if I can feel any difference.

The factory seem to be very complacent about it, that is the trouble with having a product which gains such high accolades - manufacturers can't be bothered to sort out small glitches.
