Might try turning the hinge pin.. Also the larger diameter pins sound good as well. Do you need a special tool to fit them or are they just a straight swap? Are they on the heart of England website?
Thanks
Will

I bought them off HoE. They are a push fit. Obviuosly you do 1 at a time and with the door closed.

On my 4/4 the hinges have worn, not the pins - and the holes of the new hinges didn't align with the old - lots of swearing!

To fit oversize pins I suppose that the holes have to be reamed. How ist this best done?

I took mine out, laid over a iron block with the pin head hanging over the side , whacked the center of the pin with a peen hammer, tapped back in place. not loose now.

I reamed mine out with a 7mm reamer, by hand in situ, mind they are brass on a DHC.

Thanks, Tony. Mine are brass, too. How did you keep them in line when reaming or is this not critical (reaming the two parts separately)?

Hi Frank,
As I said I did them in situ so the other hinge tended to keep things in line. However I dont think this is critical as you are only re-cutting the existing hole and cannot go far wrong, why would you need to ream separately???. I got the 7mm pins from H 0f E, difficult bit was sourcing a 7mm reamer.

Thanks again, Tony. To get a 7 mm reamer should be easier (hopefully)in my "metric" country than in the UK.
