I know we have a couple of other employers on TM but I'm interested to see if anyone has had experience of having reservist staff called up for deployment.

The reason I ask is that this has just happened to us, and the information flow from MOD before deployment was nil. I could understand it if it was a doctor etc and circumstances dictated but this is not the case, as its been part of planned deployment for the last 2 years.

Anyone else had experience?

Why are people been called up, yet at the same time the services are making people redundant !!

My eldest son is in the Royal Engineers (was in the TA before he went full time). The constantly poor organisational abilities of the Army have brought me a new understanding of the expression "planned with military precision" I'm afraid ooo. Another expression to do with consuming excessive alcohol and a brewery might be more appropriate.
I hope this isn't treasonous, I'm immensely proud of what he and his coleagues do englandwavebut sometimes I despair at the admin. they seem to regualrly "forget" to oragnise travel warrants etc. and he has finished up paying for his own flights for leave on several occassions.

Normally up to the TA member to keep his employer informed ahead of the official paperwork. Deployments are usually planned well in advance but it is the civil service....
