Sounds smart. I do like over riders, but think I prefer the full metal bumpers.

Most modern cars would ride over a low rear bumper with enough speed. I think the spare wheel offers more protection to be honest. (if you have one).

The best of both worlds. But do over riders provide enough protection in the case of a rear end shunt?

Same here. After someone removed my bumper with his car last month I have been without. My son say it look more agressive.

I went through this decision very recently and have specified my new Roadster with full chrome bumpers....

Is chrome an option - I thought they were stainless steel?

Stainless now as far as I know. The over-riders certainly are.
I prefer over-riders front & rear.

You're right, polished stainless.... I assumed it was chrome. Ooops!

I'm afraid, that even a light impact would damage the bumper, and the bumper would damage the wing.

My personal preference is a "naked" front and the rear with over-riders.

The front ones will not provide any protection anyway, as are mounted in a weak way. I would have removed them long time ago, but, unfortunately, there is a part of the electric harness going "through" their mounting brackets.

So removing means cutting the brackets, or trying to disconnect the cables, which are covered with this sticky dirty protection coating.

Sunny greetings,
Ivo
