An interesting video detailing the engineering features and build quality of the Pagani Huayra

It's a disappointment for me after the Zonda. That said, the S was my favourite, thought it went a bit... Tacky after that. Evo's Pagani bias is pretty horrendous as well.

Sorry Nick, I've got to disagree with you. smile

The engineering on that car is second to none (as it should be for the price!) and I simply don't see a single element of it as tacky.

As for Harry's bias, I won't argue that point because as he owns one, I would agree he has a natural affinity. Also, his was certainly a good investment, which no doubt adds to the rose tinted specs.

I don't doubt the engineering, I think it's immaculately designed. He is an exceptionally talented engineer and his experience with carbon fibre is second to none.

The things he's implemented are progress: cleaner engine, switchable traction control, etc. and they open up a whole new market. More power to him.

I just preferred the early Zondas with their huge Merc V12s, no TC, etc. For me it's a purer car. None of the early ones had ostrich skin interior!...

Beautifully engineered.

I had a look around one at Goodwood and there is something definitely bling about the cockpit - fairly hideous actually.

But supercars are supposed to be mental. And it is. smile

Absolutely incredible, stunning attention to detail and every part is simply beautiful. I wish I could; a) afford one, and b) had the skills to drive one.

Actually it worries me a bit that there are people that can actually afford to spend so much money on a car. Perhaps it is the socialist in me coming out. If I sold just about everything I own I could probably pay for one but then I wouldn't have the funds to run it ooo

Peter did you notice the feature, that your Morgan does not have. It's a feature to raise the suspension to get over humps. Would be useful to get in your garage.

Nick, I don't think it is fair to blame the car, or the engineer-owner of the company, for the choices some customers make in their specification of the car. Whilst I agree that colour combinations/trim materials are a matter of taste and therefore, a personal opinion, I wouldn't expect Pagani, or any car company (MMC included) who offer bespoke products, to turn away a customer because they choose an interior material, exterior colour, etc, that was not the norm.

Yes, you are quite right, I am being unfair. Interior trim is not a reflection on the car or company. I guess I have just seen too many lairy examples and am being unfairly swayed by this. As you know I love the F40 but at the same time do not like the way Ferrari go about their business. Do you view a car in isolation or as a whole? When spending that much money do you do it just on the mechanicals or on ethos and everything that goes with it?

Not a dilemma I will ever find myself having but it is interesting.

As an aside, I hate it when people refer to 'buying into' something. Just because you happen to find something that floats your boat shouldn't suggest some kind of financial motive or being swayed to part with your money

The first time I saw the Huayra, I wondered where they were going with the design; however, I have to say that after seeing that video, I think it is a very attractive car. What impressed me more so, was the tiny details (the fuel management in the case of the airbags firing and carbon weave match to name two). Boshly and I recently had the chance to look over a Bugatti EB110 and the bare carbon wasn't a patch on what Pagani are doing AND this car was bare carbon, he intends to paint the Huayra!

I cannot help but be won over by someone who has that level of attention to detail and engineering prowess. The passion behind the creation was evident to me and I'm a sucker for that. smile
