Simon,
This was an interesting wee garage. (Bosch Seynod, Annecy, France) The main mechanic seemed to be the owner with a son doing the admin. Another staff mechanic and that was it. Just three guys and a world of really unusual German stuff.

Thanks for posting those Mark. I love old Porsches and the 550 is a very special car; made all the more infamous by this chap.

I don't know a lot about him and whether he was genuinely effortlessly cool, or whether the studios worked to create that image; however, from the little I know, I'd suggest he was a genuine chap who liked his cars and drove them hard.

As for what he would be driving now, well, he'd be 81, so probably something quite comfortable, easy to get into and a lot less taxing than ' Little Bastard '.

Great pictures thanks for sharing.
Graham I think you and I looked equally cool fixing that copy Porsche at Prescott but then I am at Moscow Domededovo airport consuming BAs gin as they delay another flight.

One can dream.

Self dillusion is a great skill!

If Porsche had stayed with simple and lightweight, they could have made an Elise rival today, and if they did, I would be tempted.

Of course a new sub Boxster level convertible is in design, with a VW and Audi version, but I suspect that it won't be simple and light (and small) enough for how I like my cars!!

At least he went out with a bang and not a whimper....better than the tubes and monitor wires eh!!!
