Hi,
I appreciate tips in relation to two questions.
See attached pictures:

I have a plus 8, where the seats and leather interior is dirty. I have tried almost all car care products without success. Dirt lies deep in the pores and does not respond to the use of cleaner from Autoglym or soap. I think the previous owner just put it in with leather balm and therefore preserved the dirt in the skin. Have any of you had the same problem? The leather is in all other respects in top condition with no wear. Any sugestions how to clean?

Photo 2: When I removed the leather cover over the gearbox I discovered a little thing that is supplied with power from the rear. It was hidden under the gearbox cover. Anybody know what function this little thing have?

Have you tried using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (or similar product)?

I had the leather in my Maserati re-dyed. First it was pretty intensively cleaned and then sprayed with new matching dye. At the same time I had some hides sprayed to match to replace leather that was completly beyond restoration. It was very successful and I think the process included using oils that fed the dried out leather. The new leather and the old matched exactly in colour. Unfortuneatly the compay that did it for me was in Australia so I don't think that would help you but there must be people who do this all over the world. If I recall correctly they used an American product to do the work.

Photo 2, just a guess and looking at the thickness of the wire is it for a 12v socket, for powering mobile phone or satnav. Or battery charger.

Can't see the photo until tonight - it's not an extension lead from the battery to connect in a battery charger/conditioner?

Cheers,

It could be a supply direct from the battery. Is it live with the ignition off ? It was either used as has been suggested as either a supply for a phone/satnav or a charger. Hopefully where ever it comes from it has a fuse.

Re-leather restoration - Talk to or google any of the equestrian sites. They can get everything out of leather saddles. From sweat to blood and oil it seems to cause them no real problem. smile
