Hi! I know that this is my first posting but I am currently trying to sort out my new project.

I am attempting to add power brakes from the 1993+ Morgan Plus 8 to my 1985 Morgan Plus 8. There are a few things that have me stopped and I would greatly benefit by viewing the setup on a 1993-2003 Morgan Plus 8 (with Left Hand Drive) for the Pedal Assembly and the vacuum line routing off of the booster. If anyone has one of these cars and could contribute pictures, or if anyone has the experience of performing this conversion before, I would sincerely appreciate any pictures of your setup.
Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, this website does not cover the vacuum line routing or the left hand drive pedal setup if you are converting over. Please let me know if you have a 1993-2003 Morgan plus 8 with a left hand drive. I would sincerely appreciate viewing pictures of your setup!

Not sure if I helps, but I was looking under the bonnet of a friend's 1973 MGB GT (not sure if it had dual circuit brakes) the other day (as you do) and the servo is remote. I wonder if this configuration could be used on a Morgan?

Pal of mine has done that with a 4/4 - remote mounted servo. Dual circuit brakes too...

I don't want to hijack this thread but I'd like to add a servo to my 1990 Plus 8 (RHD) but the obvious place for the Lockheed servo (on the scuttle just ahead of the toolbox) is currently occupied by the large air cleaner box.

Adding a remote servo is surely a very common upgrade to Morgan brakes which seem as unresponsive as wooden blocks to pedal pressures of 3-4 times my excessive body weight (don't we just love 'em?). I've thoroughly researched the web and can find no underbonnet photos of servo equipped Plus 8s anywhere.

Can somebody who has either got some pics or has done the job, please advise?

BTW, it's some 14 years since I last owned a Plus 8 and I'd forgotten how 'vintage' the brake performance can be.

I can easily lock the wheels on my 4/4 and while servos do reduce pedal pressure required I find they reduce brake feedback...

Are you sure your brakes are up to spec?

Cheers,

I'm not sure the brakes are up to spec because I haven't driven a Morgan for 14 years and in between have been spoiled by the rather efficient brakes of a Jaguar!

But... My Plus 8 has covered only 26k miles from new so I can't imagine too much degradation of pads or discs etc. The fluid's been changed (and in any event, brake fade isn't the problem). I cannot think of any modern car without a servo so naturally, I decided that this was the obvious simple upgrade to my brakes. I'm not so precious as to think that Morgans are perfect in all respects ( think front suspension here) but I love their quirkiness although I value better, safer braking even more.

You can pick up a Lockheed servo kit for well under £100 and im familiar with this convsion; in 1975 I fitted a remote Lockheed servo to an Austin 1300 (which was how Austin upgraded the brakes for their 1300GT model).

It would be interesting to compare graphs of pedal pressure vs Tapley Meter readings of the Morgan and other similar cars.

Ahh yes, aafter driving a pal's XK8 the other weekend I can appreciate how you feel!

Another pal of mine has added a remote servo to his 4/4, but there's a bit more room in the engine bay (even though the CVH has gone and a 2 litre Duratec? (maybe Zetec - memory fade! oldgit ) has replaced it.

It may be worth having the brakes checked on a brake tester, but my guess is there won't be a lack of efficiency, just getting used to greater pedal effort (or adding a servo smile ).

Cheers,

I came across the following when I was doing some research about a year ago. I know they are in America but I imagine they ship all over the world. Not to be confused with antilock braking systems. Might help
