I was visited yesterday by a new Morgan owner. Looking over his car and fixing a leak, I was surprised to see that the Duratec engines cambelt and pulleys were exposed to the elements. Is this normal or has someone omitted to fit a cover? he bought the car at Christmas in Belgium.

Is it a belgian mussel car ? It's probably that the engine has been chipped.

I suspect this may be a toothed 'fan' belt?
Any photos?

The 1.8 Duratec has a chain so my bet is the Plus 4 does too.

No photos yet. Graham perhaps you are right, It was a broad ribbed belt approx 2.5cms wide, maybe three pulleys. This is from memory. Runs like a sewing machine and so differnt to my M16. Peter, Ford 2 litre Duratec (or whatever ) 2007 vintage. Anyone have any thoughts on the new 2 litre Ecoboost?

The exposed belts just drive the ancilliaries, the cams are chain driven on a Duratec engine.
