I'd say she needs a new car.

Are the radio stations the same in Manchester and at home ? It might need a rescan of the channels if there has been a change due to the digital rollout.

Have you thought about adding a signal booster? Cheap ones can be had for less than $10, better ones are around $20. Just search for "Car Radio Antenna Booster". Install this and return the car without saying a word to retain your all-wise-hero-father status.

Valves smile Nothing wrong with valves! grin2

Car manufacturers really haven't taken on board DAB very much. The decimation, err sorry, close down of vhf FM quality transmitters has been put back by a number of years due to the lack of take up of DAB.

While I have DAB radios in the house, they don't get used much, except perhaps for Radio4 Extra when some of the classic radio comedy programs are on.

And there are newer DAB standards out, not compatible with our rushed through earlier version... It's turning into another nightmare - why buy into it now if in a few years newer and better will be available, but you may have to buy another radio if your current one is not upgradeable... oldgit

Cheers,

Next time you are over here you must read my fortune , all wise hero father status you must have a daughter to say that. This is what happened last night.
I borrowed her car to nip up my mothers , spotted a couple of chips in the paint when back in my garage . Got her touch up paint out ( Halfords 250ml ) with a child proof locking top , bloody father proof also but not idiot proof . I fought it for ages and when it came off it went all over my hand , I tried to wipe it off , I now have 1 black hand and one white hand . My new shirt has a large splat of black paint on the front and I stink of thinners as it sank through onto my body and I had to scrub it off . 8pm she left for her boyfriends at Doncaster going fishing for a few days with his dad and her boyfriend on his dad's boat one of those ones with beds and a cooker she even took my game pie out of the freezer ( from a proper butcher ) .
8.45pm the phone went Dad the A19 is blocked and I did a detour I am lost in Middlesbrough, and dont know where I am . She was in a panic . Cool down and try and give me some idea , she started to cry . Ok I am comming to get you my wife and I jumped in her car and off fast . I headed up a narrow road heading for the A19 it was covered in rain and as I belted up it I aqua planed the car was all over but it was fun till I came to a roundabout and I was going to fast was able to get around it easy ( I SLOWED DOWN after ) .On the A19 I opened it out and forgot the police have a secret spot ( just 1/2 mile from the American Dinner on North Side ) I was lucky as a fleet of wagons slowed me down . I over took them at 75mph spotted the police moved on and put my foot down . She told me what street she was on from her sat nav we found it easy and not a scruffy dump area . Jump over dads here do you want me to drive you to Doncaster and mum to follow , will you , yes . I headed off to find Darlington and the A66 leading to the ( A1M) the sat nav trying to go any place but the correct one . As I approached the A66 ring road no need for your indicator dad you are on a slip road ( shut it girl ) . I pulled into Scotch Corner went to the loo and said mums tired she has been up since 6am now you are 1hour from Doncater on the A1M you will have to do it yourself.
She phoned 11.20pm arrived ok her first words thank you dad ( THATS ENOUGH FOR ANY DAD ) , she said while I was driving " I love my little car dad , even though its a pig at times ". I asked on the phone do you want a new car if my numbers come up " YES " with a sat nav that does not go crazy . OH better still I will buy you a Rolls Royce with a chauffeur oh thanks dad , well you dont need one you already have a another car with 2 chaffeur's mam and dad .
I found her car service book and a small book on her radio it states any problems with the radio contact Renault garage for almost everything .
Yes Im a softie when it comes to my daughter but she is all I have, and all I ever wanted I could not ask for more and any dad with 1 daughter will know what I am saying . Many years ago she said to me, "Daddy you are putty in my hands " my reply dont forget putty can go hard over time. love banghead crazy3 swmbo thumbs

PS. Going to give the booster a look at .
