A friend of mine has just put his Roadster in for its first MOT. It failed on the headlights (not GB type) and rear fog light on the wrong side of the vehicle.
Has anyone heard of this happening before.

When importing or carrying out M.O.T work on imported Jap cars, the rear Fog Lamp had to be mounted on the right hand side rear of the car.

In the main these cars came without Rear Fog Lamp.

This car came straight from the factory. I wonder how many more are out there waiting to be failed at the 1st MOT.

Interesting. Has he owned it from new? Fog light may have been an oversight, but incorrect headlights? Unless the car was originally destined for another market?

Cheers,

If he's owned it from new and the headlights *are* wrong then it will be up to the dealer to replace them.

I think Dean-Royal may been thinking of a Eunos Roadster (ie imported Mazda MX5) - LOL!

How old is his Roadster? Owned from new? Perhaps a previous owner has meddled?

It does sound as if stuff from the LHD parts bin ended up on the car.

it would be interesting to know how the MMC deal withthis as it is out of warranty

sorry if i didn't make my self clear i was suggesting the rule of thumb for Eunos, Pajero's Infinity, etc all piling in to the UK late 80's early 90's

Just a wild thought, its not possible the car started as a LHD at order level and changed to RHD
half way through production !!!

Obviously he never drove it at night before the MOT.
Maybe as I have done it crossed the channel & then got reregistered where you must change over headlights etc and then came back without DVLA being aware?

In 1982 I bought a new headlight for my Gold from the VW dealer in the Isle of Skye as my headlight got cracked on the way there. It was a left hand drive headlight I was sold.

Easy to get it wrong!
