Sounds like a fun day out.

Re: Morgan Experience at Bicester.. - 02/12/20 04:22 PM

Very good idea! On track instruction that enables learning how to control the car in a safe (ish) way. Better than a test drive on roads!
I went to a Bicester day event about 4 years ago on Jan3rd.Really enjoyed it, chatted with other Morgan owners. It is a good location for MMC as it is a centre for so many specialist motoring companies.
Covid allowing I’d go there. Only a 3 hr drive so not bad!

I seem to remember meeting a drowned rat in a M3W at one wet Bicester scramble . laugh2 laugh2
A great place to visit

Re: Morgan Experience at Bicester.. - 02/12/20 04:26 PM

That’s the one! Wettest drowned rat I have seen! Still smiling, though.

Wow, that's a great idea and a great location for it.
Also it's not too far from me so win win.

That should be worth a trip, but why feature the soon to be obsolete M3W unless of course ...............

Perhaps because the P101 promo film was shot there ?

Re: Morgan Experience at Bicester.. - 02/12/20 07:43 PM

Sounds an interesting set up. I remember spending a day with my dear departed mate Richard Gilbert doing a shoot for MOG magazine. It was before most of the buildings were restored and we were given free reign to explore....which we did! I love the place....just wish I wasn’t so far away from it.

Morgan is getting into the "professional" world.
Absolutely the right thing to do, but at the same time another step down their pathay into the modern world and the loss of the glorious amateurism and garagiste mentality that was the old Traditional Morgan!

Re: Morgan Experience at Bicester.. - 02/12/20 08:13 PM

A mere 20 miles from home, excellent

Re: Morgan Experience at Bicester.. - 02/12/20 09:58 PM

This really is a good responsible action on the companies behalf and can do nothing but good whilst providing an extra source of income.

I also think it’s a message that says we are interested in more factory direct sales 😉 and why not it all dovetails in neatly with their new showroom and Morgan tours operation.

It's good to see the Latin investors shaking things up a bit with new ideas, I've got a feeling the new 3 wheeler is going to have some of the old guard spitting their pipes out too innocent.

Times are changing Peter. Whilst the old days of Morgan are charming and something to be proud about, I think they need to be looking to the future now, particularly with the supposed death of the ICE in nine years time. I’d love them to build a modern car to compete with the likes of Aston. It will be interesting to see exactly what they plan for the MTW..!

Indeed the world is changing and I'm pleased that MMC is evolving, the company had to change or die.

Hybrid MTW, perhaps?

Bicester Scramble is on for the 10th Jan. Limited tickets if anyone is interested.

Re: Morgan Experience at Bicester.. - 04/12/20 12:14 PM

Wasn't that impressed last time I went, but have booked as it's somewhere to go in January!

Re: Morgan Experience at Bicester.. - 04/12/20 08:01 PM

It's a rip off now. £15 per person I think.

Thirty quid to go and walk around a car park full of Porsches..? No, ta.

It used to be such a charming place, but they only want your money these days.

Shame.

Booked mine, it's a good morning out happy3

You've gotta be quick this time as they have restricted numbers, It will sell out fast. sunny

Re: Morgan Experience at Bicester.. - 04/12/20 10:44 PM

Looks like they’ve sold out already
Posted By: Redfate

Re: Morgan Experience at Bicester.. - 04/12/20 11:20 PM

When I got mine this afternoon the application form said advance tickets!
Some times they issue them in batches so it might be worth keeping an eye open as there maybe a second issue soon?
I don't know that for sure, but thats the normal procedure, but then this year has been anything but normal.
Posted By: TBM

Re: Morgan Experience at Bicester.. - 05/12/20 06:53 AM

On the site it says it's limited to 2000 tickets for this one. I imagine that's why the price is higher.

As I said, in normal circmstances I probably wouldn't bother, but booking stuff up so I've got something different to look forward to.....

The VSCC have been having a great day there today with some fabulous cars and not a Porker in sight..

Re: Morgan Experience at Bicester.. - 05/12/20 03:47 PM

I've only been there once in April. It was a bleak place, with a totally inadequate access, which was a mudbath. Hopefully that has improved, but I suspect that in January it will be even bleaker and cold, and probably even muddier.

So I don't feel the need to make the trip this time. Maybe in the summer. What's there is remarkable but it needs far better public access than was the case when I visited.

Shame.

If another poster is correct at 2000 ticket limit, that £30,000 income for the day... spend nice little earner for allowing some cars to park up for a day

Re: Morgan Experience at Bicester.. - 06/12/20 05:16 PM

Indeed it is, Jon..! Good economic sense to add an extra day to make a weekend of visitors, with hired toilets and catering there.

Good economic sense to ignore me, too..!! Mrs SBM always does..

Alas, I am now up North Steve, so am out of scope for this.
Hell, we could all do with a throttle blow out after this year.
cheers

Re: Morgan Experience at Bicester.. - 08/12/20 09:16 PM

Blue Diamond Riley Services are currently closed for at least two weeks down there, due to a Covid positive test.

The VSCC driving tests weekend were there last week, too..

Re: Morgan Experience at Bicester.. - 26/12/20 02:22 PM

I have only just noticed that the Scramble has been postponed due to Bicester moving into Covid Tier 4 restriction area, its now moved to the end of April.
So we have Bicester 24/25th April and then Donnington 1 week later.
That gives us a week to clean it in between cheers

Re: Morgan Experience at Bicester.. - 28/12/20 08:26 AM

Given that “socially distanced meet-up” is a bit of an oxymoron, here is hoping everyone gets their COVID-jab before the next Scramble... wink

Re: Morgan Experience at Bicester.. - 28/12/20 08:33 AM

I've gone for the refund option - I'd only gone for January as there is bugger all else on at that time of year. Wasn't that impressed last time I went so don't feel I'm missing out smile
