Wide boot laces also do the job.

Come on you lot!
Why don’t you get someone else (manservant) to do it?
When I had stainless wires I used a microfibre to clean them and occasional Meguiars polish and a wheel wax. Wheels off 2-3 times a year for full clean between routine washes.
At first I thought your cloth was to drape over the tranny tunnel side for a nicer feel against the left leg when driving in shorts!

' Tranny Tunnel'? That's one for Stephen Fry.

And what's this wheel wax, please? I have been using the MWS (?) system which ends up with a finishing spray that attracts the dust to the wheel.

This is my Victorian bicycle brush, purchased from a Victorian hardware shop in Hastings. The nice people there serve you wearing period costume, explain all about your purchase including the support they give to the craftsmen / women who made the item. A jolly good experience all round.
I do however have to point out that my love for paintwork is limited to its ability to prevent corrosion of the parts beneath it.
If I polish the wheel rims on my car again it will be a million years too soon!

Scroll down the image page to embed codes - then down to full image and hover over the RHD end of the BB code bar and copy will be revealed - do that and paste in your post.

How do you know what a kidnapping kit looks like 🤔

I find that a microfibre cloth superglued to the little hands of child slaves work for my wire wheels

Thanks Richard. That's what I thought I had done, witness the link at the top of my post. I'll experiment more later.

It's a pleasure Phil - I think you pasted Direct links - Image link the first line under embed codes. If that helps at all.

That brush looks abit rough for wire wheels. More like an item for frightening soldiers from fraternising with the entertainers in Cairo

I seem to have the hang of it - thanks Richard

The brush is really quite soft although I have not tested it in the way you guys seem to be suggesting!

Good stuff Phil thumbs.

That brush looks a lot handier and friendlier for the wheels than anything I managed to get hold of when I had the Sport, they all seemed too large and too much metal on them.

What about an electric toothbrush for the finishing touch? Expensive solution - yes, excentric - yes. Does it work? Honestly I haven't tried yet. I might, though - when nobody sees me...

I picked up one of these in Lidl a year or so back, I think I paid £9.99 at the time.

They work ok, but for the life of me I can't work out what's 'Sonic' about them.

Re: Can you guess what it is yet? - 11/05/18 03:06 PM

I have recently modified an electric toothbrush for removing hard skin from ones feet. Just cut off all the hairs flush with the the plastic head and stick on a disc of self adhesive Velcro. A similar diameter disc of abrasive cloth with velour backing can then be used and changed when worn out. Just a tiny detail sander really. I have considered using the same idea with a felt pad glued in place and used in conjunction with solvol autosol for aluminium - the applications seem endless! I just don't have the drive in me to do all that polishing.

Wheel wax....sold by most car care producers such as Meguiars. It is a wax finish similar to the paintwork wax. It does help reducing the adherence of dust and thus enables a quick wash to remove it. I have a tub of Poorboys left over from the wire wheel days and have usd it on the alloys. Other brands re available.

Tranny tunnel.....NOT am euphemism..... nono

What's wrong with a Dremel?

Re: Can you guess what it is yet? - 11/05/18 05:48 PM

The Dremel is much too fast - it burns your feet!
