Where it really scores is in rural Policing: I was talking to the local Rural Officer and he said it was priceless when the incident is in a field or woods. It helps them go to the right place and coordinate with the air ambulance and drone pilots.

The main use is in dealing with idiots on quad bikes in fields, hare coursing and riding accidents.

Our postcode will take people to a farm track about 200 yards away, so it's good to have something that's more precise, and more memorable. If the B&B was still open, we'd certainly use what3words.

When it comes to being out of town I find OS map refs and if necessary (rarely) Lat and Long work well... smile

Since it was raised I have been looking for how to apply it and agree it has been surprisingly useful in some places as you outline.

I was trying to direct a driver to a delivery in London the other day and the actual entrance is different to the road the building is showing as being on. W3W on his iPhone had it sorted quickly. Mind you a google dropped pin was easier and faster....

I guess it is the iPad to your Pen and Paper O/S Lat/Long Graham!

Just time to burn a little more petrol before dinner.
