What is the reason all your wives like this movie so much!
Matt Damon, Christian Bale or the GT40?

As it still hasn't stopped raining I went along and watched this today (in company with nine other cinemagoers).

I really enjoyed it. Some creative licence with the story, to enhance the appeal I guess, but I thought the action scenes were very well done. Some genuinely funny moments as well.

Mrs W declined the offer to accompany me, preferring instead to stay home and varnish our bannisters. To be honest, I think the lengthy racing scenes would have curtailed her enjoyment and she's not a particular fan of Matt Damon or Christian Bale. (I'm not actually very familiar with Christian Bale but I was struck with how much he looked like the late Pete Postlethwaite).

Well worth watching. For me, Steve McQueen's 1971 epic remains my favourite motor racing film of all time but (rather like Ken) this one is a close second.

Good to see Ken Miles' son wearing a Villa shirt during the race. [Linked Image]

Chistian Bale is the most changeable actor in the world, not only with his great acting, also with his extreme body transformations:

I can't argue with that. I Googled him but none of the pictures looked anything like him in Le Mans '66, apparently he lost 5 stones for the role. I don't think I've seen him act before but then I wouldn't know!

A quick question for Heinz the OP. You called this topic "Ford vs Ferrari" but IMDB says that the film is called Le Mans '66 in Germany, as it is in most of Europe. Did you view it somewhere else or is IMDB wrong?

I saw the movie in Cologne. It's like I read about the movie in the NYTimes before I went to the cinema. That's why this movie title „Ford vs. Ferrari“ burned into my mind. Then I also wanted to avoid confusion with the original film „Le Mans“ when starting the thread.
In the USA the name of the movie is exactly „Ford v Ferrari“ - not written vs. as I have learned now when reading Wikipedia. In the UK the title is Le Mans '66. In Germany it is called Le Mans '66 „Gegen jede Chance“. A bit confusing.

Thanks Heinz, I just did wonder. North and some of South America, plus Australia and New Zealand have used Ford v Ferrari. Most of the rest of the world has gone with Le Mans '66, although there are a couple of instances of local language equivalents of "King of the Road" or "The Big Challenge". It's common for countries to give their own names for films but it's rarer for English speaking territories to differ. IMDB renamed their entry to the European name before the film came out but Wikipedia has stuck with the U.S. version.

Full list here: IMDB: Le Mans 66 - AKA
