Seeps for sale hereSeems to be a Ford product not a Jeep Several companies, including Ford made Jeeps. The name came about as the vehicle was originally designated GP - General Purpose. As per usual with military GP became Jeep. In 1940 the US Army drafted a specification for a light 4x4 utility, 1/4 ton (that's payload). (The term Jeep actually appeared before the war in late 1930s). Initially only two manufacturers submitted prototypes for this new light utility - American Bantam Car Co of Pennsylvania and Willys-Overland of Toledo (Ford joined in at a later date). The Willys-Overland model is probably the best known. The Jeep trademark came much later, as part of AMC. I could go on, but don't want to bore people Wrist duly slapped You better come up here for a sausage fest & a few red wines with you navigator

Doesn’t Jeep stand for Just Enough Essential Parts? In WW2 it did for sure, but not now.

Thanks for the video. I must have been 16 or 17 when I read the book Carlin wrote. He was in England at the time looking for sponsorship.

New ones are really fast... Must be the splendid buoyancy aids, I had to study the first ten seconds of the video several times to make sure .....

Making use of the usual TM thread drift allowances, I have not driven a new vehicle today however I have driven our replacement "family barge" EV over the last seven days on and off, it has been interesting to quickly get used to one pedal driving, the brake pedal only really required should an unexpected situation arise.
I suspect if anyone learns to drive and passes their driving test in one of these vehicles, they could be quite incapable of driving any machine that requires a tad more driver involvement to pilot it...? Perhaps a bit like the limited driving licenses of the past re auto boxes..Hmm..?
Circa 20 years ago I bought a Morgan in search of a more involving driving experience than was available in other sports cars which were evolving to become somewhat less involving to drive at road legal speeds, perhaps as evidenced by the Top Gear presenters antics of the time and since, where burning rubber while drifting seemed to be the measure of any vehicles desirability for some..?
While on the subject of TG, I was indeed sorry to read of the courageous Mr Flintof`s unfortunate escapade and worse still that it happened in a Morgan, I do hope he recovers well.
