We spent some time in Christchurch before the earthquake, drove through Lyttleton, which is a huge port. Looks pretty cold now though, it was lovely there in the summer.

You'll be pleased to get Henry back up North no doubt. I fancy the winter weather you are having now is much the same as the summer when he left the UK. Love the Union Jack on the side, I fancy you will be mobbed where ever you take him..................

Continuing travelog of Henry

Flew down to Christchurch to visit with Henry before he is officially "on road tested". Great to finally get to have a hands on experience, check out what the colour really is like, are the decals fitting etc etc.
Was allowed a brief run around the block (was quite wet on the roads and missus didnt want him muddied up yet !!)
So very different to anything else i have driven !!! Not having had motorbikes or the like. Quaife box is loud, I am advised to run it in for 1000 miles and if not quietened down by then would look at possible replacement.Cant really be too objective, as quite overawed by the shear awesomeness of everything and the need for significant ear protection from the cold !!!
A couple of pix below, better description of first drive when Henry gets to Auckland and hopefully drier roads.

Found reverse and managed to get outside, comments on lack of turning circle spring immediately to mind!

As can be seen, Henry is waiting in a car restoration facility which contained lots of very interesting classic vehicles being totally restored

That colour combo is looking better and better the more I see of it, are you pleased with it in the flesh?

Henry does look very nice indeed - can understand your impatience to experience fully the freedom of the road. Congratulations and best wishes on your new Morgan !

Best regards,

John

We were very pleased with the colour scheme. It is actually very close the the pix above. Some other photos i have seen were quite light. Possibly black leather would match the body colour better, but I dont like black leather in any situation and am very pleased with the Tan ( Saddle Brown). Again the leather colour is a tad browner than photos.
The wife and i have had much discussion on the "table cloth" on the cowl. I was more than pleased with it when seen on the car, not as dominating as depicted in photos. Especially when viewed in profile.
Overall the scheme conveys a more WW1 plane feel, which is what i was hoping for initially.
