Great write up PJ! Having driven it for no more than 4/5 miles I can see exactly what you're saying smile

We have just come home after 2 weeks in England in the new 3W.
2000+ miles with 2 overweight 60+ inside.
Was great fun
our "Li´l Red Robin" has done 4500 km in 3 weeks.

Positive
Engine is awesome and has great wading capacity - perfect !!!
Load carrier works very well
Intercom is near to perfect
Low petrol consumption
Silent bevel box
Comfortable seats
Creates lots of interest wherever you stop

Negative
New noise in rear sprocket
Heavy wear on front tires
Kickback in steering
Unreliable tank meter
Needs draining holes in bottom
Pedals to close for a 185 cm driver (had to change steering wheel)
Luggage compartment untight (from the back wheel)

So far the most fun car I have had so far

what sound are you talking about? When doing this roadtest I also noticed a sound comming from the rear, got louder and louder the last 20km before I delivered it back to 1560. It really worries me.

Does your sound sound like the sound you can hear in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqaDnqaawmg

The sound can be heard from 1.36 to 1.42 and from 9.22 to 9.26. I hope it's a common problem that Morgan will adress, I'd hate to have damaged someone elses car in some way frown

I wondered about draining holes, hadnt heard anything up to this point, but it always seemed like something they overlooked when I saw photos of this car.

No PJH, not that sound. This is more like a screeching sound, as if some kind of steel disks rubbing each other. I had the factory look at it when we passed Malvern, but they could´t fix it directly, so spares are on it´s way to Sweden to be sorted out beginning of August. Has something to do with belt and pulley.

Krod - draining is really needed. I threw the mats away, totally soaked, and had an inch of water on my driver side and under the seats. I think it had all come in from the cockpit.
The wading capacity is awesome. We passed "normal" cars stuck in the floods without any problems, just as long that you don´t drive to fast in them. The engine can take that but your passenger (Mrs) gets soaking wet and angry.

Glad you got back home safely Stig and had what sounds like a great trip. It was great meeting you both at Shelsley Walsh!

A lovely and eloquent description of our little cars, especially the reaction of others who see it,

With regard to the water collecting in the footwells, I have a feeling that a lot of it comes in from spray kicked up by the back wheel and comes in behind the seats. I gave my rear compartment, springs, tanks and so on a hose out the other day, and the cockpit was an inch deep in water, so maybe a matter of looking for the holes and blocking them.

Great to meet up with you and Mrs Stig last week, and I'm glad you both got back safely [can we have our sun back now please?]

The steering kickback does not seem to affect all the cars, looking at the vids. most seem to have no movement on the steering wheel at all, other than inputs from the driver, I'm wondering if the shock absorbers could be to blame, and their may have been a batch that were faulty?

Great report PJ, you've really got the essence of what this car is about imho!
