Did any of you catch The war of the Roses on Film 4 last night ? I hadn't seen it since it was out in cinemas in 1989. I found the scene where Kathleen Turner drives over Michael Douglas' Morgan traumatic enough first time around, but now that I actually own one it had me cowering behind the sofa like I do when England are participating in a penalty shoot out. For those who haven't ever seen it, the scene in question occurs on the 2 minute mark of the trailer herewith... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ebv3i_9Ltc

Looks a little too strong to me but I don't want to find out! A very upsetting scene that.

Giles , somewhere in my ramblings is a write up of it in real life. It happened in Harrogate ( Yorkshire ) a true war of the rose's in the early 1960s . Wife smashed up her husbands flat rad with a broom . thumbs ( 21-05-12 ) just looked it up .

Mmm. It seems that the women of yorkshire prefer old technology. As 'er indoors is a Barnsley lass, best I behave myself & avoid vexing her.

I saw the film. The car involved has been restored.
Wayne Carini does a program called "Chasing Classic Cars" and is based in the USA- one episode is dedicated to this Morgan. It was bought and restored by a friend of his and the program shows some history of the car. It also shows him taking it out onto Limerock track on a track day. I have saved the episode to my Sky+. His friend passed away and the car had been sitting in a barn. It was taken on by him after his friend's wife wanted to see the car used. It doesn,t say if he bought the car or was just looking after it for the owner, but she went to the track day to see it in action. An enjoyable episode. Many of his others are good too, with some absolutely stunning cars seen. It mainly revolves round major US classic car circles and major auctions - Bonhams etc.

It is a very sad scene. Yes, the fellow who works on my Morgan in Northern Virginia, is the son of a owner of that car. His father bought the car after the movie was made and restored the car. He works here with a good group: http://britishandclassics.com/

I will have to look for that episode of Chasing Classic Cars.
