He may already have done this Tim, but suggest he asks the dealer to whip the wheels off so he can get a good look at the inner faces of the brake discs. Porsche rotors are very soft steel and the hidden inner face is where corrosion starts when cars are not used often or hard enough - as is often the case with models like the cabrio. If pitting has set in, the cost of a set of discs should be negotiated with the dealer now - they are not cheap!
