Nobody is denying that insensitive extraction of minerals can be very polluting. China especially is guilty of some pretty appalling environmental practice. They of course would say it's because of our insatiable demand for cheap products with no questions asked.

However you want to spin it, the fact of the matter is that the fossil fuel industry has a much greater negative environmental impact than the EV industry, as multiple studies have demonstrated.
