With all the stunts and speed testing and the pushing to the limit they have been lucky not to have had a fatality over the years. Remember the late, late breakfast show?
Maybe the Producers are thinking that they could be culpable of corporate manslaughter or similar charges if the worst happened.
The alternative of trying to make it nice and safe while testing cars slowly doesn’t appeal much.
