Yes, It’s occasionally made clear that despite the germination that Pete’s original Harley ACE brought to those here, by inspiring Charles Morgan to return to 3-wheelers, some would prefer a feedback-loop-monoculture here. Others have also previously voiced their appreciation for this related content.
Perhaps full circle then, that the last Liberty Motors ACE f-6 article featured Andrew English,
https://www.avants.com/magazine/pete-larsen-liberty-motors-ace a pivotal figure in this 3-wheeler re-birth. It was Andrew that authored the original Harley ACE story in The Telegraph that brought Charles Morgan to Seattle in 2009, where ACE to Morgan 3-wheeler history was made.
As the saying goes, all good things to come to an end, and ACE production is in fact over… Pete originally had six frames, suspension components, etc. built to his specs for the f-6, and after those were completed, the reality of the manufacturing landscape changes during early 2020s became apparent, with previous suppliers either no longer interested in the custom work or now cost prohibitive; Pete decided to set out on a new project; and this time it would be just for him.
Pete, being no longer encumbered by the litany of regulations involved with building a four wheeled car that is intended to be sold to customers (you can build anything you want here if it’s legally a ‘motorcycle’) Pete found a vintage unfinished Bizzarini body, pulled out a clean sheet of paper, added a wheel in each corner, and an LS6 up front backed by a 6-speed manual transmission.
It has been a real privilege for me to witness firsthand Pete’s process and progress, from drawings, to a mocked-up frame in PVC tubing, full CAD renderings, cut and bent raw frame tubes, artist quality ‘stack of dimes’ TIG welding, and now assembly.
I was brought here after buying my own M3W
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2013-morgan-3-wheeler-5/, and this forum put me in the right place at the right time to get my first Harley ACE #10
https://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthrea...e-prototype-for-sale-hemmings#Post550772 and I will always appreciate that! I have also said that first owning an M3W facilitated everything that has followed. I’ve since been in the right place at the right time to get my second Harley ACE #13, ACE f-6 #1, and most recently ACE f-6 #2.
ACE f-6 #2 was thoroughly enjoyed with the original owner, who added 13k+ miles in a couple years and had some epic road trips; after racking up 34k miles on an M3W that was sold here,
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2014-morgan-3-wheeler-10/ . Sadly, he passed away recently and I’ve been restoring and reversing some clumsy modifications that were made during his adventures.
So yes, although Pete is not going to build any more ACEs, ACE f-6 #2 may be coming up for sale… if I decide to go through with purchasing a Ginetta G12 when it gets to Seattle from Japan… PM me if you’re interested (before I’m canceled).
