I just want to say how much I'm enjoying this thread. Shame it's not in person as I'm sure there would have been raised voices and in the end, 10 paces and pistols at dawn.
With one sweeping generalisation I'm probably going to upset all traditional Morgan owners, 'no one cares about you anymore'.
It's true, as a target market you are dying out. Although you are the people that have helped keep our little British car company alive over the years, you job is now done and Morgan thank you for your commitment, loyalty and service. There have been many brands in the past that have not recognised that development and change is an essential part of survival, just fading away over time as they hold onto the past and what they've always known and done. Morgan doesn't want to be one of them.
I'm sure that Charles Morgan was looking to the future at the point of selling Morgan, with passion and money being invested into Morgan, to enable growth and development. The introduction of the aluminium platform has allowed the transition from a car that looked to the past for inspiration, to one that looks forwards to the unknown as a canvass for opportunity.
The Supersport is a real defining point for the brand. It separates the 'traditional' from the modern. The Plus Four bringing the traditional 'classic' look, with the Supersport embodying the modern forward movement. For those new buyers of a pure classic looking car, the Four is there and waiting, for those wanting something else, then another Morgan will provide.
the Supersport brings opportunities to reach a younger market, with a quality of drive and the introduction of tech that will keep diving enthusiasts happy. It has a strength and presence that only the Areo before it has managed to achieve. This car is solid and holds its own in any environment and in any company. It needs to be seen, then seen again to full appreciate how good this car actually is.
I will of course document my spec, build and delivery; if you want to experience this vicariously you can find me on YouTube and instagram, Julian_theviews
