I don't think it can work on a left hand drive car. I have long legs and tend to slide the toe of my shoe under the clutch pedal. I put a nice scratch on the toe of a brand new pair of shoes because there is some absolutely useless bracket welded to the arm under the pedal It is now covered in heatshrink tube.

Is it the same bracket that's welded to my pedal arm? Probably superfluous on a Plus 4 but operates the clutch switch on the Sigma engined 4/4s. My legs aren't that long but I'll need to bend my leg up to use the clutch rest which is why it's a prototype for me at the moment and I'll probably end up making the footrest area more vertical.

The only real discomfort I get in my Morgan is my left ankle on long trips. I've never really found a comfortable rest for it. PJB very kindly sent me a template for the rather neat clutch rest he has fitted to his car and I've just made up the first protoype for my 4/4. It's constructed from 1.5mm alloy and hand beaten into shape in the best traditions of MMC! I have louvres a miss as I have enough of those The design is quite neat, the front of the rest is angled inwards to the transmission tunnel to prevent the clutch pedal or shoe catching it and there is just enough area to rest the edge of the foot. It is attached to the floor with a couple of screws and reinforcing washers. The only mods I've made to Peter's design is to shape the foot rest area slightly differently to match my tunnel and shape a return around all the edges abutting the tunnel to avoid any damage to the leather. I'll post a picture of the template if Peter has no objections. In a Laural & Hardy voice..."Thats another fine job you've got me into!" I have thought about that for a while and this is the inspiration I needed. Many thanks OMG....the jobs on the Morgan just never end do they?!.......I'm gunna just have to do this one. Up till now I've always worn very slim, light-weight Diesel sneakers/shoes and rested my left foot, slightly rotated anti-clockwise, between clutch and break. During my recent upgrade to telescopic shocks for the 4 seater, I already decided to alter the position of the brake pipe that is concealed by the shock cover, and also the cover itself. This will allow me to gain an extra 2 -3 inches ( fantastic for my 6' 3" frame ) of rearward movement of the seat( with modification of the mechanism ). In combo with the left foot rest this will be superb Neil.

I have short legs I just fold my left leg up and rest it against the tran's tunnel , that's just given me an idea its going to get re-trimmed maybe he can pad it a bit so its more comfy on my leg . Only do it on long straight m/ways if nothing about.

Wondering what the "clutch switch" on the Sigma-engined 4/4 is for...? I recall somebody posting on here you could only start the car with the clutch pedal depressed so I guess it is for that?

Wondering what the "clutch switch" on the Sigma-engined 4/4 is for...? It is something to do with the ECU. When I bought my car it was virtually undriveable from a standstill until moving at reasonable revs. Turned out the the factory had somehow incorrectly wired the clutch switch. They explained that it was there to stop the hanging of revs that the Ford cars were programmed to do when fitted with the Sigma...to make gear changes smoother and this was Morgans workaround, the 4/4 being so light not needing it. Hope that makes sense!
