I think going ahead with my own trip to Portugal next August, in a Brooklands no less, will require more valour than Vasco da Gama's trying to reach India (and back) with a couple of barely floating boats ...

Bad news , hope you get it fixed sooner than estimated. If your car is out of action for 6 weeks through no fault of your own do MMC extend the warranty period accordingly ?

Steve have you managed to isolate where the sound is coming from?
Is it the belt or the box?

Yes, I was also wondering if the sound couldn't be identified, which would at least make sorting the problem out a little easier.
I assume it is Williams who couldn't do anything for so long? They are one of the better dealers to. It may be worth taking it into a local workshop and asking them to have a gander at it Steve. In the interest of getting it fixed quickly, that is.

Rang the dealer to get it booked in & despite making notes, they aren't able to look at it until SIX WEEKS TIME!! Six weeks for a dealer to look at your new Mog, that you purchased from them, is unacceptable in my opinion. Are they working to get your Moggie in sooner? I totally agree, no way I would accept that.

Hi Steve Sorry to hear that you had problems. This must have also limited the amount of touring you did in France. I can imagine you are slightly less than pleased considering you bought a 2014 model in which we were assured all the bugs had been ironed out. Let us know what the cause was when you eventually find out.
The never ending problems that are being reported with the M3W's have caused a reduction in the confidence I have in mine. Bearing in mind, mine is an early model, I am now also concerned about cracking chassis's and locking up bevel boxes. These are in addition to all the other problems, of which I have had many. These all detract from the pleasure of ownership, particularly when every time we go out we cannot be sure that some mechanical failure is not going to lead to a serious accident.
I hope you can improve on the promised 6 weeks before your dealer can look at it. This is totaly not good enough particularly bearing in mind what the car cost you. I would be inclined to get Steve Morris involved at the factory.
Good luck and best regards Keith

Another voice saying, "talk to the factory".
I'm not going to prejudge what they might say, but as it's not inconceivable a part needs both be ordered and obtained - working out what is needed should be done post haste.
Hopefully, it's not as bad as the sound effects suggest.

I cannot say much about the misfire (spark plug?) and oil leak but if you spray a bit of silicone on the drive belt and all goes quiet for a few miles that will explain those noises. No big problem other than being annoying and not something to stop you using it. Hopefully it will be down to alignment and/or tension of the drive belt. At least you did make it home. I would like to make a long journey or two with my car but the reliability issues keep coming up to make me think again.

Name and shame the dealer, six weeks is unacceptable, they should at least look at it and determine what is wrong. you could be doing more damage driving the car. sorry you have a problem, warranty can be be done by any Morgan dealer not just the one it was purchased from, contact the factory for advice and who is best ti fix the problem. Steve From your description my money is on the bevel box.
Interestingly at the weekend I got stuck in a long downhill traffic jam, I turned the engine off and coasted downhill. The bevel box noise was then very apparent.
