Thanks Graham, it's had many hours of my time sorting it out. Since the photo I've had the head and barrel down over winter, fitted a single seat and a Mikuni carb, bearings, chains, etc etc Kept all the original bits in case. I'm planning on taking it to the Manx GP this year. They only made 1100 of them , I'm the 3rd owner, it's quick and handles beautifully. Heres a phot of the engine during my rebuild...

I like that
Needs a Black & white Front & rear plate though thumbs

As a man who has owned 150 plus ( lost count years ago) motorcycles many British many restored by me from "scrap"
I love my Brit Bikes.
When I get bored with the KTM I shall be back on British Iron
( won't be long!)

John Bloor and his team have done a fantastic job bringing Triumph to a point where it is now a far, far better a bike builder than it ever was.

Triumph Motorcycles is a private company within the Bloor Group, another private company: his house building business being the larger other side. The published accounts don't show much, so it is impossible to know how much has been invested.

But there is speculation that the UK Government made a substantial, if unwitting, contribution as Bloor ofset the initial losses made by Triumph Motorcycles against the profit from house building so the group profit was virtually zero and no corporation tax was paid. If true I think the Country got a great return: a shed load of new jobs and a great brand re-born.

Without the sort of resources Bloor could bring to making Triumph it is hard to see the "New Norton" really be more than an expensive toy. For the prices being asked you could buy a really good original 650 Commando and have change.

The new Norton is not meant to be a Triumph.
I think the business model is based around limited production runs of very high quality machines.

We are a dealer for them and they are truly outstanding in quality of components, finish and performance.
Pictures only tell part of the story, you have to get up close and personal to really appreciate the quality (just like Morgan).
We have sold a good few and every owner has suggested they would have paid more.....they are outstanding value, way too cheap in my opinion.
Treat yourselves to test ride.....you will be blown away!!

Regarding second hand values, we are achieving well over list for SEs (no longer made) and close to new retail for the others.
So, a great ride and terrific investment, what more could you wish for?

I'm too big for a SMT Oh and I have had "several" old school Nortons......
I never really got them into my blood stream.

Its just horses for courses
