Heres the email I've received from Trident...
It's been a long year and many improvements have been made to the Iceni, most of
which one cannot see, however we have been very busy perfecting the fit and finish of
the car, preparing it for production and we are getting ever closer to the final
specification. Once achieved, we will produce the demonstrator Iceni. This will mean I
can finally get to all the UK-based potential customers who wish to test-drive the Iceni
and proceed with taking orders.
Whilst working on the Iceni, we have also been busy preparing the race car. This will be
entered into both the Britcar series and British GT Championship – taking on the
Ferraris, Moslers, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins and Porsches. Being a brand new
manufacturer it's important we compete on the racetrack to prove our integrity and
performance and as the only diesel car on the grid we expect to make far fewer pit
stops than the competition.
We're delighted to report our first and preliminary fuel consumption result as recorded
at Millbrook Proving Ground on 8th July. At 70mph we achieved 68.9mpg. I must stress
that these figures will be improved upon and we fully expect the 70mph speed to
produce at least 75mpg. Still, it's a good start – the consumption betters still at lower
speeds. Once we have more figures available they will be used to launch our new
website – something that has been a long time coming.
We were pleased to exhibit the car at the North West Motor Show at Southport in June.
We weren't blessed with fantastic weather but the people made up for the wind and rain
and the car was very well received as always. Our Managing Director wowed the
crowds with a short demonstration of both the road and race cars which included some
outrageous wheel-spinning!
Also, in July we were invited to attend the RAF Marham (Norfolk) Friends and Families
Day. A wonderful reception and a beautiful day. It was great to see the Vulcan flying
again, along with the Red Arrows and the Hurricane. This was not a public event but
attracted many local companies from all sectors. Many people were surprised that the
car was built only a few miles from Marham and again, we were very well received.
On 24th March we had a short article in our local newspaper, the EDP. This reported on
our fuel consumption and the lack of help we have received in our quest to produce a
fuel efficient sports car. The article can be found at:
