Doddington Hall near Lincoln this afternoon. Followed a green Three Wheeler into Doddington - not sure if he saw me in the mirror - looked like he was having fun.

Walked up to the shop in the centre of the village to get my Telegraph. Bugger sold out. Walked back and told her indoors that I would have to drive to get a paper. Didn't tell that I would take the Morgan. Stopped at the shop at the top of the village got a paper, had a conversation with a bloke who has a Volvo p1800, and then took a very long way home. By the time I got back we had company so her indoors could not give me a bollocking - result!

A grand day out today. swmbo is away for the long weekend so I took the three kids to our local agricultural fairground for a "steam era fair." It is finally proper southern Ontario summer weather, hot and humid, overcast in the morning but burning off to provide enough glorious sunshine to warrant the follically challenged to seek shade... A good drive to get there, with only a small detour to seek out some more interesting roads, with hills and corners and other Morgan-friendly attributes!

The fair was great. There was a "historic cars show" which we were invited to join by the carpark attendant. When I explained that we weren't actually in a historic vehicle, he suggested that nobody would mind and I should go and park up in the middle of the showground anyway, and wouldn't hear of us just putting the car in the public parking area. The show organisers were a little less enthusiastic about this, but on learning we'd been sent by the gate stewards despite protestations, they sighed (rather resignedly, I thought) and suggested we find ourselves a spot at one end of a row and just not officially enter the show. The (legitimate) entries were mostly Fords (half a dozen Ts, a couple of pretty well done street rods, a rather splendid Fairlane, a brace of mid-century pickups), Chevys, an occasional Buick and Dodge, and a somewhat down-at-heel 1924 Rolls, slumming it in this company!

Loads of steam (traction, portable and stationary engines) and literally hundreds of vintage tractors, you had to keep your eyes and ears open when wandering around. The traction engine owners, in particular, were a very enthusiastic and welcoming bunch, really happy to tell us their stories and show the kids how the machines work (as well as taking a little too much glee in regaling them with the amputation possibilities of working the threshing machine...). The local manufacturer seems to have been Sawyer & Massey - the same Massey family who, a couple of generations later, went into business with Mr Ferguson. Even 7-year-old daughter was able to suppress the natural disaffinity she has for mechanical goings-on. Her two brothers could have stayed there all day, but we had struck a bargain and the boys had to keep to our side of it!

M1 South yesterday at Leicester J21, Green 4/4, reg M44 *** with 'luggage' in a black binliner - about 1700hrs.
Earlier on road into Narborough, a red M3W with grey beard & flying helmet - about 12.00.
I've just been to fill up ready for the factory visit tomorrow. Had a bum clenching moment - flatbed transit coming the other way on a very rough stretch of road showered me with gravel. It was twice as bad as a gritter encounter with some very loud bangs, but all I can find is a tiny stonechip on the second louvre from font. A very luck escape............

Well another great day with roof down, actually it has never been up!

Librands exhaust fitted, better note and burble on overrun. What fun but 4th and 5th gears seem wasted.

JB62 is officially a Gent. He sent me the Librands exhaust, not sure how much the courier charged so I have a fitted exhaust and not paid a penny yet. There are some lovely folk on this forum.

Saw a BRG car yesterday locally, maybe a plus 4.

Currently sitting near the pool and waiting for swmbo to finish having a massage. Then we will think about going to dinner.
