120 miles in the 90 today. Ride on the S. Devon railway plus a visit to the local Otter sanctuary, for feeding time. smile

Currently sitting near the pool and waiting for swmbo to finish having a massage. Then we will think about going to dinner.
Life is so hard but then again perhaps not budster

I thought I had better say a bit more about this place and now that I have wifi access I can add a bit.

We drove for 4 hours under a blazing sun to suddenly arrive at this oasis in the middle of a dry and arid country. The monastery was built on the original Moorish castle that existed here before the Christian conquest, or perhaps re-conquest, of Spain. I suspect the park has Moorish origins but has continued to be developed by the monks and later private owners.

The place is just fabulous with waterfalls of the Piedra river and other tributaries cascading, first into the park, then into a spectacular gorge.

Having wandered for a while in the cool of the park we then witnessed the most spectacular show of birds of prey that I have ever seen: falcons, buzzards, hawks, kites, eagles, vultures, and owls. they were flying within centimetres of our heads!

The rooms are large and comfortable, there are full spa facilities and a swimming pool. The food , wine and service is great. At the moment we are sitting on a cool terrace outside the bar and enjoying a nightcap before turning in.

If visiting this part of Spain it is a place not to be missed.

For those who haven't read it, may I recommend George MacDonald Fraser's book on the subject "The Steel Bonnets". Not quite as easy as his fiction, but very thorough and interesting.

After cutting the grass, I went out for my one hour lunchtime drive around Bredon Hill, Worcestershire. Behind me was a rather nice shiny red 14 Reg Morgan.
Anyone here?
