It makes a 4 seater look like a two seater and gives you somewhere to stash coats and luggage out of sight Also a lot quicker to pull over than the roof !
totally agree
I'd be lost without my tonneau - it is so good for when only i'm driving or there is just two of us in the car
the tonneau covers the back seats - keeps it reasonably water resistant if its light rain, covers any stuff in the back, easy to put over the front seats when parked up, covers the hood and makes the car look super smart
when people (non Morgan owners) comment on the car and i've got the tonneau over the back, they don't realise it's a four seater at all

On the 'Easy Up' 4 seater the tonneau is located at the rear by the hood release pins. It is nigh on impossible to thread it in with the hood down, so you have to put the hood up which defeats the object. The decision is therefore to fit the tonneau, and forget the hood and sidescreens or go hood, sidescreens and rain cover. Simples.

For 2 Seaters with Easy up hoods, i can see it might be a bit superfluous
Probably more hassle than it's worth unless it's a split tonneau and its been driven with just the driver, hood down nearly all the time whatever the weather with the half tonneau over the passenger seat.
For 4 Seater owners of any age, i think it's a must if the rear seats don't get used all the time, which would be rare.

Thanks for all your responses, however, for a two seater with an easy up hood I can't see the point. For the record I drive all year, in all weathers no SORN for me, and 95% of the time I drive with the hood down, but am prepared to pull it up, it takes seconds, when it rains.....

Describes me as well.
This year, with about 5000 miles enjoyed, we have stopped to put the hood up, whilst driving, about 4 times. Set off from home with the hood up about as often.
I've used toe Tonneau twice in 18 months, it sits in the garage. I use the side screen cover more often, but to be honest it is almost as pointless. Getting both screens in the bag is a big faff. Two bags would be better.
I mostly put the hood up when parking in a public car park, rather than remove stuff. It makes sure that should it rain, or other material fall from the sky, it isn't in the car. It also keeps light fingers out, even though I never lock the car.

I bought my first Morgan this summer and has driven 4000 km so far, mostly with the hood down and without sidescreens. The Tonneau cover is never used. When parken I put up the hood or even better, use the John Taylor storm cover. The storm cover is 100% water proof, the Tonneau cover is not!!
Since I live in the middel of Norway a good jacket and a cap is a must. The all seasons cap from the morgan club in UK is perfect in Norway.
My car has a 9 stud hood. I prefer not to remove the hood, but fold it down like shown on the picture. I have cut a curtain rod in two sticks to keep the hood frame in place. This reduce the turbulence and with the sidescreens on the car is almost warm.
Haven't used the hood (or sidescreens) on my 'new' car yet. Haven't had a passenger either, so tonneau stays on all the time. But, I don't have an easy-up hood...

In two years I have only used the 9 stud hood once in torrential rain. Mostly leave the car parked up open but if likely to rain, under trees etc use the tounneau. Wouldn't leave home without it.
Can I be really pedantic and point out that the thing you lot are all talking about is the tonneau cover? The tonneau is the thing you sit in, aka cockpit. Strictly speaking, we should only be referring to tonneaus and tonneau covers when talking about 4-seaters, as really the tonneau is the bit the passengers sit in.
I use mine pretty much all the time when driving. The only time I leave it at home is in the winter, when it's more likely I'm going to need to put the hood up quickly. Mine is a three-zip version, so you can have the side on in cold weather, and be really snug.
